This will be a short post as I am truly knackered. I’m just home from a wee one day Age of Sigmar event near Inverness. It was a good day, but it did involve leaving the house at 6am and getting home not long before 11pm. Ooft.

The day consisted of three games, with my first game putting me up against a Guild of Summoners Tzeentch list. This was actually really close to the sort of Tzeentch list I’d like to run, so it was a great learning experience. I was completely tar-pitted by the big block of Pink Horrors and the Spawn that popped up from some of the spells.

In the end, I scored a respectable 21 points but lost out to my opponent’s 25. I had a lot of fun in this game and although I was slightly disheartened at the end of the first turn, things really picked up in turn 2.
My second game saw my Gitz square off against some Daughters of Khaine, with a snake-heavy Morathi list. This is the sort of Morathi list that really dominated my Troggs at an event last year.

Well, things went better this time, and I’d tabled the whole army, except for Morathi herself, by the end of turn 2. Really, I’d killed most of it in turn 1, picking off all of the Galletian Champions very early. I scored a mighty 28, which was the joint-highest for the round. My opponent scored 9 points. This was a pity, as I really feel that I got some incredibly lucky rolls, including some good spellcasting. My opponent also made some errors in deployments, and I feel that I blocked Morathi well with my Mangler Squigs, redeploying into a better position to take her charge and protect my smaller squigs.
Game 3 was against some Stormcast. I crashed into them in turn 1 in the same way I did with the Daughters of Khaine, but through a combination of their better armour and some less-than-stellar rolls, I kind of just bounced off them and it became very much a war of attrition – almost as much of a tar pit as the Horrors in game 1.

It went well, and it stayed interesting through to the end of turn 4. I was delighted to score 31 points, the highest score for that round. My opponent hung in there and scored 20.
In all, the results saw me come 5th out of the 16 players, with the top placing out of the players who went 2-1. Fantastic!

It was great to see my fellow Northern Knight also place well with his Nighthaunt army!
The event seemed to go pretty smoothly. This is the second I’ve attended by this TO, and it was an absolute blast.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to bed.
