I do try to maintain a nice, positive outlook on this blog. I love my hobby. It makes me joy. It brings me happy. It can be hard, on occasion, to maintain that tone of positivity in the face of corporate cynicism and creative laziness.
There is a particular subgenre of little card game that just seems to a magnet for that sort of lazy cynicism. I’m talkin’ games like Munchkin, by Steve Jackson Games that seems to be proffered out to cover any license that’s going:




I also talk of games like Fluxx which, again, wear all sort of different skins:




Talisman is a more recent example of this sort of thing. Of course, we’re used to seeing it in mainstream games like Monopoly, Cluedo, and the like.
