I took a look at Plastic Craic’s Spearhead Hobby Challenge the other week. It looks fun, and I deliberated over which Spearhead to do for it. In the end, it will surprise probably nobody that I’m going with the Flesh-Eater Courts. The contents of the Spearhead are really interesting to me, in that they are all units that I intend to add to my army but, with the exception of the Abhorrent Archregent, I have not yet done.

Okay, let’s do it!
Except, I’m not going to pick up a box, am I? My own Flesh-Eater Courts are quite different from these models. Here are some of my models and units:

So, to date, I have used the following sources for my FEC minis:
- Older Games Workshop plastic and metal miniatures
- Historical minis from Fireforge Games
- 3D prints from Lost Hobbyist
- 3D prints from Highlands Miniatures
- 3D prints from Heroes Infinite/Raging Heroes
For this set of minis, I’ll be mostly sticking with Highlands Miniatures. First up, I’m putting together some of their foot knights and pegasus knights to represent Crypt Guard and Morbheg Knights, respectively:

Regarding the Archregent, I do already have one, but I’ll do a second one. This is partly in the spirit of the challenge, but also because as the FEC currently stand (and I’m aware that this might change very soon) I could very much see myself taking two of them in a list. I’ve also got a mini that I’m looking forward to painting. That helps, too.
That leaves is with the Varghulf. He’s a big boy. I had intended to use my old, metal Games Workshop Green Knight for him, back when he was on a 60mm base. He was already a little small on that base, and would just be tiny on the bigger oval that the Varghulf now occupies. I’ll need to find something for him…
So, yeah… goals! I’m excited to push on with this challenge and pad out the army. Finishing any of the units will give me a usable force and complete one of the four 2,000 point armies I had intended to finish this year!
