We have a club painting contest running at the moment. The idea is that you put a model in and then draw one out. That’s then what you need to paint. I stuck in a Skaven Warlock Bombardier as my contribution:

He’s an interesting model and I’m keen to see what gets done to him. He’s got a lot of detail and texture, so whoever gets him can have a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, not all models have interesting detail and texture…
I like the idea of the Harlequins. I have spent years being very tempted to have a go at picking some up. Drawing a Troupe Master for the event was therefore potentially quite interesting. I’m coming out of this experience very impressed with people who put a lot of detail onto their Harlequins because there’s very little interesting detail on the actual models. It’s very sparse. I did try to put a checkerboard pattern on, but it was way too scrappy and I ended up painting over it. That’s my fault, I suppose.
Here’s how he ended up:

He looks alright, and would look good as part of a bigger force, but I don’t think I’m tempted by collecting them any more. I also don’t think I’m going to be in contention for doing well in this painting contest. It was interesting to try something different, though.
Oh, well. Back to the Flesh-Eater Courts, eh?
