I’m always on the lookout for something fun. There are so many interesting commanders around which one can build a deck. Today, we’re going to look at some of the cards I’m looking at, and the decks I’m considering. Usually, this means that there are a few draft decklists sitting in my Moxfield account.
Let’s not waste time and dive into the fice commanders that I can currently considering building:

1. Phelddagrif
I would like a group hug deck. I really enjoy playing against a friend’s Mrs Bumbleflower deck, but I don’t want to do the same thing. Phelddagrif gives a chance for a different approach. It will be a token-heavy deck with lots of cards that give tokens to other players, and cards that will ping some damage around whenever these tokens enter. Lots of defence cards, too.

2. Arabella, Abandoned Doll
Nothing hugely exciting about this one. I do actually already have a red and white deck, but this looks more fun. I do have one really token-heavy deck with my Shroofus-led Saprolings deck, but I’d be keep to try some more token shenanigans with Arabella, Abandoned Doll. Just flood the place with tokens, bring her one, and then smash her into someone. It’s a deck where, really, you don’t actually want her on the board for most of the game. Why risk her until you have to?

3. Phenax, God of Deception
I like Mill, and I don’t have and Dimir, so this is interesting. I like that you can build a board and then bring this commander out to cause some chaos with major milling. Bruvac might make his way over to this deck, on loan from my frogs. He’d fit better in here, anyway, as the frogs are really self-mill and only have offensive mill as a backup in case that doesn’t work out. Yeah, Phenax, God of Deception seems pretty brutal when it comes to milling…

Heliod, the Radiant Dawn/the Warped Eclipse
Force card draw and then use the mana generated by Heliod‘s angry side to card big X spells to win the game? Yep, sounds good! This is kind of a group hug deck, but is a bit more obvious in the impending pain than Phelddagrif would be. It’s the sort of deck where the commander may quite quickly become kill on sight in a given pod. Still, looks fun, and I don’t often play with big X spells.

Yurlok of Scorch Thrash
Mana burn! I have enjoyed playing against a friend’s group slug deck and I like the idea of that archetype. So, then, let’s take a look at Yurlok of the Scorch Thrash to build my own. There are lots of cards that interact with mana abilities. Some force you to tap lands, some punish you for not tapping lands. They all have a home in this deck where excess mana hurts you. This could be really fun!
