5 on Friday 24/10/25

It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.

Releases & Previews

Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:

Games Workshop releases a Battletome for the Helsmiths of Hashut – Helsmiths of Hashut introduces a grim new Chaos duardin faction to Age of Sigmar, a foundry-forged army drenched in ash and daemon-labour. These are duardin who barter with the Bull‑Father for industry and domination.

This is a toolkit for slow, brutal control: durable infantry screens, heavy ash‑walkers that soak fire, priests who repair and buff, and lists built around grinding opponents down. The battletome seems to pair clear unit-role guidance with evocative lore and fantastic new models to match.

Skydawn Game Studio releases an RPG based on the classic JRPG, Phantasy Star – Phantasy Star Tabletop Roleplaying is an officially licensed, cooperative science‑fantasy RPG from Skydawn Games that adapts Sega’s Phantasy Star universe for tabletop campaigns of galactic exploration, heroics, and cosmic threats.

The hardcover corebook collects character options, setting lore spanning the series, starter adventures, and tools for building star‑spanning campaigns; it launched as a late‑September 2025 release on DTRPG.

The Old King’s Crown makes its way to retail stores – The Old King’s Crown is a game of courtly ambition and subtle sabotage. Draft followers, bluff rivals, and vie for influence across a beautifully illustrated kingdom. It’s strategic, poetic, and quietly ruthless.

I remember seeing this back when it was on Kickstarter. It ticked a lot of boxes for me thanks to its asymmetric factions, multi-use cards, and a layered map system that rewards clever positioning. With solo, co-op, and competitive modes, it’s a regal experience that plays as sharply as it looks.

Two Little Mice releases digital edition of Household: Volume II – Household Volume II (subtitled ‘The Garden’) is the sequel expansion to Two Little Mice’s cosy-but-weird Borrowe-core RPG, Household. I have the first volume and really love the book, even if it’s unlikely to make it to the table any time soon.

This volume pushes play beyond the previous domestic interiors into the vast, dangerous Garden with new folk, creatures, locations, and setting‑forward material for GMs; a 320‑page PDF is available now on DriveThruRPG with a hardcover follow‑up expected for backers and retail.

Free League releases a starter set for Vaesen, their Nordic horror RPG – Free League’s new Vaesen Starter Set repackages the award‑winning Nordic horror into an approachable launch box aimed at newcomers.

Like Free League’s other recent starter sets, it’s a bite‑sized on‑ramp: a trimmed rules primer, ready‑to‑run scenarios, pregenerated characters, and tools to get a Mythic North game started quickly. It can be treated as a standalone product, working great as a “try before you buy the big book” type of thing, or as a compact playset for convention tables.

Blog Posts & Articles

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:

3-0 with King Brodd’s Stomp: The List @ Plastic Craic Always fun to see someone succeed with the stompy lads. I’m looking forward to reading part 2!

Daily Commander: Esix, Fractal Bloom @ J.M. Casual Blog A really fun one! God, if this had some white in it, I’d have a field day. Imagine using this with a stack of Hare Apparents…

It shouldn’t have been called Single Player Mode @ Cannibal Halfling Gaming I saw this supplement, and featured it on a previous 5 on Friday. It’s interesting to read this review. I wouldn’t have known enough about solo gaming to really understand the… peculiarities of this product.

Combined Army Next Wave Unboxing and Review – Infinity @ Sprues & Brews God, Corvus Belli make such gorgeous miniatures. The Combined Army has never really been my preferred faction in Infinity, but the minis for this new sectorial force are fantastic.

A̶g̶e̶ o̶f̶ S̶i̶g̶m̶a̶r̶ Warhammer The Old World: Beasts of Chaos Herdstone @ Azazel’s Bitz Box The black works really well on this herstone. I don’t think it would have occurred to me to go that way with it, but I love it!
