Tomorrow’s the day: the digital edition of Mr President finally lands on Steam, and I’m more excited than I expected to be. I’ve circled the physical game for ages. It’s one of GMT’s big, ambitious solo titles, the kind of sprawling political simulation that fills a table and then some. And that’s exactly the problem, at least for me. Solo games aren’t usually my thing, and Mr President in particular has always looked like the sort of box you need a free afternoon, a clear dining table, and a small act of willpower to set up.

But the idea of it has always fascinated me. A full presidential term, crises piling up, foreign rivals pushing boundaries, domestic politics simmering away; it’s a sandbox of decisions and consequences. Every time I’ve read about it, I’ve thought, “I’d love to try this… if only it didn’t take up half the house.”
Which is why the digital version feels like such a perfect match. No setup. No teardown. No hunting for the right chart or flipping between books. Just the game, ready to go, in a format that makes dipping in and out so much easier. For someone who’s always been curious but never quite ready to commit to the physical footprint, this feels like the ideal way in.
So yes, solo games might not usually be my thing, but this one has its hooks in me already. If the digital edition captures even half of what makes the tabletop version so compelling, I can see myself sinking a lot of hours into it. Really keen to get started tomorrow!
