5 on Friday 26/09/25

It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.

Releases & Previews

Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:

Games Workshop releases a new Gloomspite Gitz Spearhead set – This new Spearhead is based on the wolfy army set, but swapping out the named character in there for the old Underworlds warband, now retooled as a snarlboss and his retinue.

This is actually a great set for multiple purchases. You’re paying for the chariots and 3 of the riders, and getting the other riders and the snarlboss for free. Even knowing you wouldn’t use a second Snarlboss and retinue, this is a great deal.

DriveThruRPG gets the PDF edition of the Marvel Multiverse RPG – The Marvel Multiverse RPG Core Book is a 300+ page hardcover packed with heroes, powers, and punchy mechanics. Built on the d616 system, it’s fast, cinematic, and tuned for superpowered storytelling.:

Inside, you’ll find a big bunch of character profiles, full rules for powers, origins, and team-ups, plus a starter adventure and GM tools. Whether you’re playing Spider-Man, Storm, or your own mutant, it’s a robust launchpad for Marvel mayhem.

Wizards of the Coast is taking preorders for Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, a supplement for D&D – Eberron is one of my favourite D&D settings. I remember picking up the original Eberron book, and then subsequently got back into it in 5E, running games in the setting for kids. Now, in whatever they’re calling this cynical edition, there’s a new Eberron book:

The book is a little on the short side, at 122 pages, but the content sounds good. There are new subclasses (mostly reimagined ones) and a bunch of revised species, along with new backgrounds and feats. It promises campaign frameworks. I assume those are hooks and suggestions, rather than plotted out adventures? Glad to see Eberron get some love early in the new edition!

R. Talsorian Games releases Single Player Mode; a supplement for Cyberpunk RED – Cyberpunk RED: Single Player Mode retools Night City for solo ops. It features streamlined mechanics, narrative scaffolding, and tools to run missions without a GM. It’s gritty, flexible, and built for lone punks.

It’s got mission generators, downtime systems, NPC behaviour tables, and a branching narrative framework that lets you chase gigs, vendettas, or redemption; all on your own terms. It’s Cyberpunk, distilled.

The Old King’s Crown makes its way to retail stores – The Old King’s Crown is a game of courtly ambition and subtle sabotage. Draft followers, bluff rivals, and vie for influence across a beautifully illustrated kingdom. It’s strategic, poetic, and quietly ruthless.

I remember seeing this back when it was on Kickstarter. It ticked a lot of boxes for me thanks to its asymmetric factions, multi-use cards, and a layered map system that rewards clever positioning. With solo, co-op, and competitive modes, it’s a regal experience that plays as sharply as it looks.

Blog Posts & Articles

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:

Battlescroll Sep 25: Destro Perspective @ Plastic Craic A good rundown of the latest updates to Age of Sigmar from the point of view of the only Grand Alliance that should really matter to you.

My gaming group: A twentieth anniversary review @ Cannibal Halfling Gaming This is a lovely post as the author reflects on two decades of good times with fellow gamers.

Boardgame Briefs: Terraforming Mars – Expansions @ The Kind GM I love Terraforming Mars, but it’s not a game I’ve ever really felt the need to grab expansions for. I suppose I generally don’t grab a lot of expansions any more. This is a cool article, though. It gives a good rundown of the various expansions available for the original game.

Daily Commander: Traxos, Scourge of Kroog @ J.M. Casual Blog I’ve looked at this commander before. He seems fun and tricky, and he does appeal. I would like, at some point, to build a colourless deck, but I’m not completely sold on building it around him.

July-August Monthly Round-Up (Season of Scenery) @ Azazel’s Bitz Box Whilst I’ve been following the completion of Azazel’s terrain in individual drops over the past while, I didn’t realise just how much he’s managed to get through! It’s quite something to see it all together.

There have been a few posts since my last 5 on Friday:

This week I finished no miniatures and bought 26 Daemon miniatures from a friend. My goddaughter also started attending her school’s Warhammer club, so I sent her a care package! This box contained a Stormcast Eternals half of the Skaventide boxed set, a rulebook, and a Kruleboyz Underworlds crew.

Purchased: 82
Painted: 180
Given Away: 29

Catch you next week!
