Humble Bundle: Doctor Who Roleplaying Game

It’s been a while since I last flagged up a good bundle. Today, let’s take a look at this Doctor Who-themed offering from Cubicle 7. Cubicle 7 has been growing in my estimation over the past few years. I feel that they are putting out some decent books, particularly with their Soulbound material and their fantastic fourth edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I feel the initially botched Wrath and Glory, their Warhammer 40,000 RPG but, to be fair to them, they did go back and fix it.

This bundle gathers up a lot of content for their Doctor Who Roleplaying game. The full bundle of 28 items costs just £15.21, but you can also scale this down, getting 5 items for 84 pence or 10 for £8.45. Don’t skimp. If you’re going for this, go for it. It’s a great deal.

Looking at the set, I’m assuming that this is the first edition of the game, rather than the recently-released second edition. The game uses the Vortex System, a lightweight, 2D6-based system that is also used by Pulp Fantastic and Rocket Age. It did originate in Doctor Who, though. You can find out more about Vortex by visiting this Vortex System resource site.

In terms of content, there’s a lot here. Have a look and I’ll catch you when you’re done scrolling:

I actually quite like how Cubicle 7 has split up its content. There are some more specific books in there, but I really like their decision to carve up the bulk of it into books themed around specific Doctors. Having a book for each Doctor is a nice way to break up content naturally, and it means that each book will have a spread of different types of material. Focusing one Doctor will give you a selection of story hooks, creatures, items, and the like.

I think this is a pretty nice bundle, absolutely packed with content. Cubicle 7 is known and proven as a developer and publisher, and I really think that anyone even considering running a game of Doctor Who should snatch this up.
