Having previously painted up a Loonboss on Mangler Squigs, it was time to get the regular, non-heroic beasties done.
Anyone reading over the past week will have seen my push to get the Squigs finished up. They’re only a little late, given that they were to be my New Year, New Army for 2021.
The Mangler Squigs are one of the best minis that GW has ever put out. They are so characterful and fun, and their construction makes so much sense, making them a lot more stable than they might look. I loved painting this second set of them:
In addition to this model which I needed to complete my army list, I also did an extra mini. Previously, I completed a Loonboss on Giant Squig:
Now, I’ve done a second one. This wasn’t so much about needing a second Boss, but rather just having the model sitting. So, you know, I may as well… This one is armed differently from the first so there’s at least a wee bit of differentiation:
And that, for now, is me caught up with the Squigs!
Of course, no army is ever truly finished. Were I to add to the army, there are a few things that I would consider:
- 1 more box of 10 Squig Hoppers (partly because I need the spare parts for something else)
- 2 more boxes of 10 squigs (plus 2 handlers per box)
- A Forgeworld Squig Gobba
- A Forgeworld Colossal Squig
- A classic Skarsnik and Gobbla to be used as a Loonboss with giant Squig
That said, I don’t need to add anything at the moment. We’re up to date, at least until the new book comes out and I need to make adjustments.
