I like OPR’s Saurian Starhost range. It’s such a nice set with a ton of really cool miniatures. I don’t really have much of a use for a whole army of sci-fi Lizardmen, but I do want some nice Stargrave warbands to get started with that game.
With this in mind, I took a wee look through the range and decided to have a go at printing out some of the Skink-like Geckos:

I started with the skirmishing ones with the energy shields, as I really like those wee, buckler-style shields. They turned out well, so I moved on to print out a set of the Chameleons and a couple of the rifle-armed ones. I printed some bases, but found that the bases didn’t really fit with the tree branches on the Chameleon minis. For these, I used plain black bases. My intention is to put down some mud, and to spread a wee bit of mud on the other bases too, just to tie things together a bit.
The warband was potentially looking a bit samey at this point. Time for some muscle! I looked to the Gators:

I printed off two of the Gators; one with guns and one with claws. These would give me a bit of variety. I love these sculpts, especially with the wee rocket launcher on the shoulder and the whompy tail.
Having printed up a bunch of fighters, it was time to look for some characters. I started with most of the Gecko characters before expanding out a bit and printing up a Gator one:

The Gator Vet looks fantastic, though I did damage his tail a little when removing some slightly misprinted supports. Nothing too bad, though. I also really like the Gecko Priest and the Starseer. The wee platform for the Starseer is really cool, and makes me want to print up the Slann-like Frog Mage at some point. Not right now, though. I think I’ve got enough there to be getting on with.
I don’t think I’ll be painting these right away. I’m likely to return to some Warhammer models for a wee bit, having recently finished my cultists for Frostgrave, and with this group of Frostgrave soldiers currently sitting on the painting table:

Happy hobbying!
