Building Phase 3 of the Gloomspite Gitz

In total, my Gloomspite Gitz army is currently sitting at around 4,500 points. That’s a lot, likes. The thing is, it’s largely made up of two separate 2,000 point forces. One of these consists of troggoths and the other is all squigs. What I’m lacking is a Moonclan presence. The new book gives fresh impetus to remedy this.

The core has to be a bunch of Shootas and Stabbas. I have hundreds of these miniatures from the old Skull pass boxed set. I’ve got loads of the troops and spider riders, one each of the two characters, and then a pile of the trolls, which I don’t see myself using:

For now, I’ve started prepping 80 each of the Shootas and Stabbas. I could see myself potentially needing more at some point, but this is a lot to get started with. Another slight issue is that the goblin nets are really good. Like, really good. The Skull Pass set did not provide netter for the units. What I ended up doing was printing up some netters instead. They don’t quite match the style of the GW models, but I managed to get the scaling right on my second go, so at leats they’ll not stand out in that regard.

In all, I have prepped the a number of different models:

  • Old models I already owned:
    • 80 Shootas (inc 12 3D printed netters)
    • 80 Stabbas (inc 12 3D printed netters)
    • 1 BFSP Big Boss
    • 1 BFSP Shaman
    • 3 old, metal shamans
    • 2 old, metal big bosses
    • 1 old, metal Avatars or War Goblin King
    • Skarsnik and Gobbla
  • New models I’ve picked up in the last year or so:
    • 6 Sneaky Snufflers
    • The Gobbapalooza (5 minis)
    • Skragrott the Loonking
  • 3D printed models:

Most of these miniatures can be seen below:

It’s going to take time to get all of these done. Since taking these pictures, I’ve spent a few hours removing the most egregious mold lines from the goblins. I’m now working my way through applying basing texture. 40 down, 120 to go!

I’m hoping to finish the basing and then get these out and primed. I don’t think individual goblins will take long to paint, but there are just so many of them!
