StoryBundle continues to put out cool sci-fi-themed fiction bundles. This latest offering is all about exploration. This is a particularly promising theme for any sci-fi bundle, as exploration has been a prominent theme in science fiction since its inception.
Science fiction thrives on stories about humanity venturing into the unknown reaches of space, exploring new planets, encountering alien life forms, and uncovering new scientific discoveries. This theme of exploration not only captures the human desire to push boundaries and explore the unknown, but it also reflects the cultural and societal attitudes towards science and technology. Science fiction has often been used as a platform to discuss the ethical and moral implications of scientific advancement, as well as the potential dangers and benefits that come with exploring the unknown. The exploration theme has also been a way for science fiction to challenge societal norms and prejudices by imagining a future where humans interact with different cultures and species.
As usual, the bundle is split into two tiers. The first tier costs $5 and contains these four items:
- Over the Moon by S.E. Anderson
- Intrepid Legacy – The Extended Trilogy by M. D. Cooper
- The Apprentice Storyteller by Astrid V.J.
- Alpha Centauri: Vol. 1 – First Landing by Alastair Mayer
These are the four items on the top row of this image:

I’m not familiar with any of these authors, but reading up on these titles it’s S.E. Anderson’s book, Over the Moon, that really appeals to me. The sci-fi reimagining of The Wizard of Oz is an interesting idea, and I like the idea of this cloned princess on the run.
Upping your payment to $20 unlocks the bonus books that make up the second tier:
- Firebrandt’s Legacy by David Lee Summers
- The Meaning Wars by Michelle Patricia Browne
- Alternitech by Kevin J. Anderson
- The Oberon Cycle – Complete Box Set by J. Scott Coatsworth
- Mindstorm by Becca Lee Gardner
- The Ghosts of Tantor by Adam Gaffen
This is perhaps an unfair assumption, but I normally associate these bundles with newer or less established writers, so I’m surprised to see a Kevin J. Anderson novel in there. Kevin J. Anderson is a highly talented and long-established writer who has made his mark on the science fiction landscape. With over 140 novels to his name, Anderson is a versatile author, covering a wide range of topics and styles, from epic space opera to intricate fantasy world-building. He is best known to many for his work on the Dune series, which he co-wrote with Brian Herbert, the son of Dune’s original author, Frank Herbert. Anderson’s writing is characterized by its strong world-building, attention to detail, and ability to create compelling, complex characters. His writing features a strong sense of adventure and action, often exploring the outer reaches of the universe and the boundaries of human knowledge.
I’m a fan.
Other than Anderson’s book, there are others that also appeal to me. The Meaning Wars looks a lot of fun, as does The Oberon Cycle. Both are also collections, meaning you can enjoy a longer series in one neat, little package. Handy, that.
As usual, StoryBundle presents an interesting sci-fi bundle that offers up a number of novels by authors I hadn’t heard of, but am now keen to explore.
