Throwback Thursday: The Problem with Evolving Settings

Licensed RPGs are fun. It’s great to play in a setting you know from other media; experiencing a world you really love. The focus here is largely on the World of Warcraft, or Azeroth. It’s a setting I like, and one that has previously been licensed for an RPG, and has more recently been the subject of a fan-made game.

The challenge with any of these licensed settings is that the property moves on whilst the books remain static. The Azeroth of today’s World of Warcraft is quite different to the Azeroth at the time of this 2017 blog post, let alone that of the 2005 tabletop RPG.
