A few years ago, I did my second postgrad. The focus was on working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The content of the course was quite wide and I wrote a variety of essays on a range of topics. One project I undertook was on the use of tabletop games – both board games and roleplaying games – with these children.
I shared part of this project on this blog. I didn’t include any of the case study materials, as they speak to specific (though anonymised) children and interventions. Some of the interventions I covered I would still apply, whilst others I might approach differently now, with the benefit of more experience. I’m unlikely to publish the full essay here, despite the fact that it did earn me a distinction from the University of Birmingham.
The section I did share was a short literature review. Again, this would be quite different today, simply because there is more literature. There have been more academic papers on this topic over the past few years, which would have given me a bit more to go on.
