Kickstarter-Watch: Lost Souls IV STLs

Monolith Arts is currently running their latest Kickstarter campaign for a range of 3D-printable miniatures. This time, they are doing the fourth part of their Lost Souls collection. Essentially, this is a big ol’ bundle of wraiths!

Aesthetically, these are clearly influenced by games like Dark Souls. You really get that dark and menacing feel. I also see real similarities between some of the miniatures and some of the Jailer’s troops in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. This is just based the sharp, angular elements on the armour and the feeling that some models are wearing items made out of old wrought iron railings.

There’s a fair bit of variety here between your standard wraiths and then some more exotic, esoteric ones. You find yourself looking at a few relatively normal (if incredibly threatening) wraiths and then you’re onto one that’s suddenly like a Pharoah, or one which suddenly has three heads.

I’ve got two firm favourites from this campaign. First of all, I love these cone-headed wraiths:

I love the tall, angular helmets on these chaps. It’s further enhanced by the fact that they have no visible eyes or even an obvious visor slot. Visually, this is something I really like.

I also like one of the mounted models. There’s not a good picture of the one I like, so I’ve had to screencap from the video. It’s the mounted wrath with a bunch of candles:

I love the aesthetic of this miniature. I love the impractical number of candles on the model itself, and the candelabra-base staff that it carries. So cool, innit?

Ultimately, you can print this up as an army in itself, or pick and choose miniatures for RPGs and other purposes. If you use this as a Nighthaunt army for Age of Sigmar, you’ll have an interesting force that is thematically much darker than the standard models.

I don’t think this is a set I’ll be picking up as I just don’t have a use for them. They’re nice, though, and I do like Monolith’s stuff, generally. At $45 for the set, it seems pretty reasonable, given you’re looking at over 70 miniatures. There are merchant pledges up for grabs, too.
