I sat down at the weekend to take a look at how I could push on to complete my resolutions for this year. When I did my roundup for October last week, I felt it was realistic to expect that I could finish up quite easily my resolutions to paint a Blood Bowl team and an Underworlds Warband. Over the past 2 days, I have shared those completed minis (links: BB Team, Underworlds warband). Woo and/or yay! Getting there!
That leaves the hardest of my resolutions. We’re in November and I have only completed one out of three of my intended army projects. So, where am I with current armiy projects?
- Genestealer Cults: I managed to get a few of the Genestealer Cults units (including Acolytes, Abberants, and my Magus and Patriarch) done this year, but I ultimately lost interest. I’ll get back to it, because I do love the idea of the army.
- Daemons of Chaos: The Daemons for 40K have been an army that I’ve just been dipping into over time. Most of my progress was actually at the start of the year with Kairos and some Flesh Hounds. I’m a fair distance from this army being completed.
- Flesh-Eater Courts: There’s a fair bit to do here. I need to finish several characters and a bunch of knights. I’m really happy with what I did with the ghouls, and I will finish these guys, but it’s a hard shout to do so before the end of the year, at least when I also have a second army to finish, too.
- Soulblight Gravelords: this one isn’t going to happen right now. The army is built, and I’ve finished Mannfred, Neferata, and a Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon, but there’s just too much else to finish right now.
- Disciples of Tzeentch: this army has been getting picked away at in dribs and drabs for some time. Most recently, I’ve finished up the Blue Horrors and Endless Spells. Looking at my lists, all I really need to finish for this are 22 models. These include 10 Kairic Acolytes, 10 Tzaangors, a Magister, and a Curseling. That seems pretty doable to me.
- Ogor Mawtribes: I’ve been picking away at the Ogor Mawtribes, starting with a unit of Mournfang Cavalry before moving on to doing some Gluttons, Yhetees, and characters. It’s been a bit of a hodge podge. I think that I could get a usable army finished this year, though. A Frostlord on Stonehorn and a couple of Stonehorn Riders would see it done. Chuck in a Slaughtermaster to make a slightly better list and we’re good.
So, the likely contenders seem to be the Disciples of Tzeentch and the Ogor Mawtribes. Let’s see if I can get them done, eh?
