It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases Kill Team Salvation boxed set – As much as I dislike GW’s big box approach towards Kill Team (and Warcry) there’s no denying that the boxes include some pretty fantastic miniatures. This time, we’re looking at Space Marine Scouts and Eldar Striking Scorpions:

I really love the Scorpions. Back in third edition I used Striking Scorpions quite heavily, so it’s great to see them getting a much-needed update. It was worth the wait! They’re fantastic.

Onyx Path releases Once and Future supplement for Scion – An Arthurian supplement for Scion? Interesting! I really like the idea of a historical setting for Scion, as the concept is one that really does fit into many different periods.

The book promises guidelines for playing historical games of Scion, and includes a new Pantheon; a Welsh pantheon. I am slightly ashamed to say that I don’t know enough about Wales to know what such a pantheon might include, but I’m keen to learn!

Atomic Mass Games to release Fearless and Inventive pack for Shatterpoint – I’ve loved the prequel-era Shatterpoint miniatures that have been released. The models have all looked really great. Now, Atomic Mass Games is moving into the era of the original trilogy. One of the first sets to be released is this set, featuring Luke Skywalker:

It also includes Leia (as Boussh), Lando, and R2-D2. This set is based on the rescue of Han Solo from Jabba’s Palace in Return of the Jedi. It’s a very specific set, and I hope there will be more typical miniatures of both Lando and Leia in the future. Still, for what it is, this is a cool set!

Red Square Games releases SibirPunk – SibirPunk is an interesting prospect. It’s a Siberian-set sci-fi game in an aggressively dystopia setting. Ultimately, the basic details of the setting aren’t all that different from typical cyberpunk settings, with a small elite occupying luxurious accommodations above a city of desperate people where lawlessness is rife. But this one has a few distinctly Eastern-European twists:

Red Square Games is a video game developer based in Poland and known for their gane, SlavicPunk: Oldtimer. This tabletop offering seems to be a bit of a spinoff from the video game setting. The setting, theming, and visual presentation warrants a further look, methinks.

Games Workshop releases Apocrypha Necromunda campaign book for Necromunda – Necromunda, as a game, seems to get new books on a pretty constant basis. I’ve kind of lost track of them all, truth be told. This latest offering is a campaign book:

It includes rules to add a nemesis to the game, dynamic settings, and more options in gang management. The core of the book is, of course, the campaign. It’s seemingly based on the breakdown of Imperial law. I thought this was something to be taken for granted in the Underhive, but apparently, it’s uncommon enough to spur a campaign. Go figure.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
2023, A Year in Plastic: Content Awards @ Plastic Craic – Some really solid recommendations here. I cannot agree enough about the quality of both Seasons of War and Woehammer. Plastic Craic itself receives a solid recommendation from me!
December 2023 Retrospective @ Spalanz – A good retrospective. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the 10×10 things for board games. It’s a great idea, and one that I’ve seen done well. The Eldar are also looking fabulous!
Top Eight Age of Sigmar Lists for the World Championships of Warhammer @ Woehammer – Okay, so there are several interesting lists here, but look at the Skaven one. A Plague Furnace and Three Screaming Bells? That seems really unusual. I don’t know how that would play but evidently, it did well here!
Happy New Year @ Wordaholic Anonymous – some good books here! Clearly, I love Neferata, so that book looks interesting. Other than that, the one I’d be keenest to read is probably King of the Sprawl. It just looks a bit different and a wee bit cyberpunky. Happy reading!
2023 – Year In Review @ Burn After Running – what a great spread of games! There are so many cool titles in this list, and like the author, I’m keen to get some more PBtA to the table after finally playing it this year. I’ve been enjoying the author’s new YouTube channel, too!

Thanks for the Tag Man. King of the Spoil falls in the Warhammer Crime series and you are right about it looking like a cyberpunky one!
