WiP Wednesday 20/03/24: Chorfs, Halberds, Giants and a Honkin’ Big Wizard

In last week’s WiP Wednesday, I shared my Royal Beastflayers and Chaos Dwarfs. This week, I finished the Beastflayers! I also finished the Abhorrant Archregent that I mentioned in the post. That brings me to 41 completed miniatures for the month so far.

So, what’s on the slate? Well, first off we have the units for this month’s slow grow commitments, starting with the unit that I showed last week, the Chaos Dwarfs:

No progress. These are going to be pretty fiddly, I reckon. I’m a tad concerned.

I’ve also started on my Empire Halberdiers:

I cracked on after taking the photo, and that’s all the green and leather down. Next up, I need to start on the armour. I’m debating whether that should be silver or bronze. I’m thinking silver. These are going to be quite quick to paint, actually.

I’m a wee bit worried about finishing models for the Slow Grow on time. There’s just a fair bit to do. I know I’ll finish the halberdiers, but I’m less sure about the Chaos Dwarfs. I’m still broadly on track, so if it carries over, it carries over. Still, I like to keep pace, y’know?

Next up for the Flesh-Eaters, we have the great wizard:

Intended as Nagash, this scaled up print is a wee bit small, but it’ll do. I’m looking forward to cracking through it and having the option to take Nagash to the table, but I’m not really convinced that I’ll ultimately use him. I’ve had the print sitting for months, and it’s good to finally get it on the slate.

Some newer prints are these three Mancrusher Gargants:

At the time of the photo their bases are sticky with fresh texture paste. These are from Cast n Play, like the previous batch of 5 I completed in October. Like last time, these are being pushed through for an upcoming event. I want to field 12 Mancrushers at the event, so this latest trio will help me out.

Beyond what’s pictured, I need to start printing models for next month’s slow grow. I’ll be posting about that next week. Blunderbusses will feature! I’ve also been trying to work out what else to prioritise. I need to start working towards finishing something. I’ve enjoyed my painting so far this year, but it’s lacked focus. I suppose the Skaven have been pretty good on that front, actually.
