WiP Wednesday 28/08/24: Puppetpocalypse

I’ve not made a huge amount of progress since my last WiP Wednesday a couple of weeks ago. I’ve not moved forward with much, except for having done a decent chunk of the robes, leather, and metals on my Pegasus/Morbheg Knights.

I did start something else for Malifaux, though. They are puppetses!

I reckon it’ll be fun/funny to run the Horsemen. This means the Dead Rider, Hooded Rider, Pale Rider, and Mechanical Rider, led by the variant version of Leveticus. I’ve already painted the standard Leveticus, and I really enjoy using him. What I;m not willing to do is spend over £100 for the riders. Instead, I spent a quarter of that to pick up the four puppet versions. I love the idea of Leveticus riding into battle, surrounded by these little toys.

The problem is, as you can see above, that they’re tiny! They’re going to look silly on that big 50mm base. They also don’t have any real points of contact for putting onto a base. So, then, we need to do some basing. I’ve grabbed some STLs which I intend to print off to make cool, themed bases for each rider.

I’ve got some printing to do for a friend, first. Here’s the planned build plate, though:

These should fill the bases a bit and give some more height and heft. I’m quite excited to put these together. I don’t think it’s the most balanced ot crews, and I’d be better off cutting a rider or two and putting in some Scavengers or Ashes and Dust to make it a lot more usable. Still, it’ll be damn cool!
