It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases Kill Team: Hivestorm – Another big box release of a side game. Honestly, I’m getting a little tired of Kill Team and Warcry being treated this way. That said, I do love the look of this set. The terrain is beautiful and the mini are really cool. I have principles; I just don’t stick to them…

I never liked the old Vespids. I didn’t like the sculpts, and I would have rather seen winged Kroot. These new ones, though? They have completely turned me around. I love them! The Guardsmen are cool as well. The terrain is the real star here, though.

Lookout Games releases a 10 year anniversary edition of Uwe Rosenberg’s Patchwork – Patchwork is a really simple, little tile-laying game. I like it. It’s a nice, quick 2-player game with a cute aesthetic:

The game is still the gorgeous, fun, little game it always was. Now, it has refreshed artwork. It was already colourful, but images of the new game look even more vibrant. It looks like a nice celebration of the game.

Atomic Mass Games releases a Boba Fett Unit Pack for Shatterpoint – So, this is an interesting release for Shatterpoint because it is the first release of its kind. Up to now, all of the boxes have been Squad Packs. These have been boxes that can be fielded as a complete squad in their own right. This release is a Unit Pack:

The difference is that these are bounty hunters that can and should be dropped into any squad. Essentially, these are your hired guns! This is another avenue for diversity in your squad construction, and it features some classic favourites. I, myself, am partial to some IG-88.

Onyx Path releases book 4 for Scion; God – In a way, this release represents the second edition of Scion reaching maturity. Your scions will have started off as heroes, ascended to demigod status, and are now gods in their own right:

Honestly, I prefer lower, street-level play, but I can definitely appreciate the sense of progression that this book represents. This book moves your characters onto whole new levels of power, representing the culmination of their journies. This is truly epic!

Warcradle releases The Battle for Singapore, a starter set for Armoured Clash – The latest game in Warcradle’s Dystopian Age series, Armoured Clash is a 10mm wargame. I feel that the relaunch of Dystopian Wars went really well, so I’m keen to see what Warcradle does with this new title:

Something I really like about the Dystopian Wars range is the variation in model design between different factions. Looking at the two starter armies in this set (Crown and Empire) it does look like you’re getting a good number of minis for your money. This does look like a good way into the game.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Book Review – Day of Ascension @ Woehammer – This book has been sitting in my to-read pile for a while. I actually picked up the audiobook. This very positive review does make me all the more eager to get into it.
Thoughts on my first visit to Tabletop Scotland @ LunarShadow Designs – I need to go back to Tabletop Scotland. I’ve not been since 2019, and it seems to have grown so much since then. If I’d been there, I’d definitely have popped by this stall to meet LunarShadow Designs, as I really appreciate their blog and the openness about small-scale independent publishing.
4th Ed’s First Balance Update: Winners, Losers and WTFs @ Plastic Craic – A good writeup of the recent changes to Age of Sigmar. I share their excitement for cheaper Kragnos, and have already got him to the table!
Showcase Prep – Showing Off A Game @ Burn After Running – As always, there’s some really solid advice here. When it comes to running RPGs, Burn After Reading consistently gives simple, practical advice that comes from personal experience. You can’t beat it.
Hangar & Control Tower @ A Loft Full of Lead – Oh, I just love seeing great terrain pieces. It’s just something that makes games so much more engaging. I need to take some inspiration from blogs like this and really get on top of some terrain. I will! Maybe.
