Another Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Humble Bundle? Already? There was one back in March, so it’s surprising that we’re seeing another one so soon. That said, it’s a fantastic game line, so I’d be delighted to see more people picking it up.
I’ve played a fair amount of first and second edition WFRP. I wish I still had my first edition book from Hogshead. I think I left it with a former clubmate a few moves ago. 15 years on, I’m not convinced that I’m getting that book back. Oh, well…
4th editon!
Seemingly, this edition was a real return to form after an iffy third edition from Fantasy Flight. I wouldn’t really know; I never played it. I’ve heard nothing but good about this edition, though.
And, hey, here’s a good chance to grab it! For £19.13, you get all 26 of these items, including a voucher for the Cubicle 7 online store:

Let’s start by saying that this is yet another badly-constructed RPG bundle from Humble Bundle. You need to get to the highest tier to get the core rules to actually play the game. I really wish they’d just stop offering tiered bundles if the tiers aren’t going to be usable. There’s just zero point in getting anything but the highest tier.
As I have not played this edition, I’m not able to really speak from experience here, but I’ve picked out a few highlights. To get us started, the Core Rulebook or Starter Set would be classed as compulsory. This has everything you actually need to play the game. The supplements and whatnot are great, but you need one of these.
I’m also very interested in Middenheim: City of the White Wolf. This is a sourcebook for the supposedly-impregnable fortress city of Ulric. Middenheim is an iconic city in the Old World, and home to the legendary Knights of the White Wolf. These were very recognisable in the old Empire army as being the knights that carried cavalry hammers rather than lances. A nice reminder that not everything in the Empire revolves around Reikland.
I also like the look of The Imperial Zoo. It’s a bestiary, and y’all know that I love me a bestiary. The Lustria and Sea of Claws supplements also give some good detail about part of the world beyond the typical setting of the Empire.
Does a new player need everything in the bundle? Nah. And that’s fine. There’s realistically more content here than even the GM will need. I’d love to be able to say that a new player should go to a lower pricepoint, but I can’t. The bundle is badly built and you need to pay the full amount for it to be usable at all. This is a real pity, because the bundle back in March didn’t have this problem.
Even with the problem of bundle construction, I’m still solidly recommending this one. The content and pricepoint is excellent.
