Humble Bundle: Ursula K. Le Guin Book Bundle

Usually, when I feature a book-heavy Humble Bundle, it’s all about RPGs. Occasionally, they publish fiction collections, too. This time, they’ve brought us a treasure trove of literary gems with their latest offering: “A Wizard of Earthsea and More by Ursula K. Le Guin”. This bundle is a celebration of the legendary author’s work, featuring a collection of her most beloved books.

Ursula K. Le Guin is a titan of speculative fiction, known for her rich world-building, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes. This bundle offers readers a chance to explore her diverse worlds and stories, from the magical realms of Earthsea to the thought experiments of her short stories. It’s a perfect opportunity for both long-time fans and newcomers to delve into her work in a really comprehensive way.

The bundle includes 25+ books from Ursula K. Le Guin’s extensive bibliography, such as:

Here are a few well-known highlights from the bundle:

  • A Wizard of Earthsea: Dive into the first book of the Earthsea series, where we follow Ged, a young and talented magician, as he learns about the true nature of power and balance.
  • The Dispossessed: This thought-provoking novel explores themes of anarchism and utopia through the eyes of Shevek, a physicist from the moon Anarres who visits its sister planet, Urras.
  • The Lathe of Heaven: A fascinating tale that delves into the power of dreams. George Orr discovers that his dreams can alter reality, leading to profound and often unintended consequences.
  • The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas: A haunting short story that questions the morality of societal happiness built on the suffering of a single child. It’s a powerful piece that leaves a lasting impact.
  • No Time to Spare: A collection of Le Guin’s insightful essays and musings on aging, literature, and the art of living. It’s a treasure trove of wisdom and wit.
  • The Left Hand of Darkness: A seminal work in science fiction, this novel challenges our understanding of gender and society through the story of Genly Ai, an envoy to the planet Gethen.
  • Always Coming Home: A unique blend of novel, anthropology, and poetry, this book paints a vivid picture of a far-future society that values harmony and balance with nature.

At $18 for this massive collection of Le Guin books, there’s no question that you’re looking at some fantastic value. It’s a great bundle. I keep meaning to start the Earthsea novels, so this will be a good bundle for me; a good jumping-on point.

  1. I do love the works of Le Guin. They’re thoughtful, generally somewhat gently paced but I really enjoy the exploration of ideas and views that I would certainly never have reached without Le Guin’s guiding hand.
