Private Eye – The Year In Review 2024 (Plus JOE)

Something I love about this year is the annual roundups in various places. You get your Spotify summary, your Reddit one (apparently my three top subjects are board games, Europe, and cringe…), lots of best-of summaries from blogs and YouTube channels…

Today, I’d like to share one of my favourite annual fixtures; the Private Eye Year In Review. Every year, editor Ian Hislop gathers some fantastic comedians and puts on a live show. This year, Ian is joined by Harry Enfield, Jan Ravens, and Lewis Macleod a the Shaftesbury Theatre:

I continue to really love the Private Eye magazine, and this annual show. I’d particularly recommend it to my non-UK readers, who will get a nice summary of the year from an irreverent, satirical perspective. Of course, given the pretty UK-centric references, you likely won’t pick up on everything, but you’ll get a good overview.

Whilst I’m on the topic of Private Eye, Politics JOE also recently posted an interview with Ian Hislop, looking back over the year. This has also become something of a tradition over the past few years, with Hislop on for an interesting discussion, and promoting the Private Eye Annual. He is interviewed by Politics JOE head of news, Oli Dugmore:

I know this wasn’t game related, but readers should know by now that politics is a subject I find interesting, and this is a pair of fun, satirical end of year roundups that really appealed to me. I’m always keen to share things that I love!
