Most of the items from last week’s WiP Wednesday are still in progress. The big change since then has been that I have started work on my display board for my Flesh-Eater Courts army for our club’s Armies on Parade event. I’m really excited to get this done, but it’s proving to be a big job and I am regretting starting this late in the day when it’s all due on the 3rd of April.
I started with a castle and a board; one piece of the old, moulded plastic citadel boards. I went with a hill piece, as I knew I wanted a piece of terrain up on the hill. The castle I’m using was a toy from a charity shop. Here’s where we are so far with the castle:

I then rolled out a pack of Milliput, bulking it out with a little bit of plasticine for elasticity and volume. The Milliput had been sitting for some time, so it took a bit of work, but we got there. I rolled it out with a rolling pin and textured it using GSW’s textured rolling pins. That would do for a road to break up the board a bit.
I decided to make the place look a bit more dilapidated and broke the road into shards, which I then placed along the path that I had sketched out. I did a rough wooden ramp down the rocky hill, and lined that with a bunch of stones.

I’m currently trying to print up some trees and accessories to break up the rest of the board, at least a bit. Once those are done and painted, I’ll be covering the whole thing with static grass and a smattering of the red flowers that adorn the bases of my FEC. I love the red flowers, as they break up the bases nicely, and are intended as a reference to Bioshock 2, where the Little Sisters see the ruined Rapture and puddles of blood as red rose petals.

I felt that was appropriate to my theme of delusion.
I’m feeling some time pressure on this, especially as I still have some miniature to finish, too. I’m not worried about last week’s dragons, but I do need the knights done.

Nice work on the road! 🙂 I use Milliput quite a lot and didn’t know you could use plasticene mixed in with it to bulk it out!
