It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases a new Gloomspite Gitz Battletome – I love a lot of Age of Sigmar armies. I love too many Age of Sigmar armies, one might say. The Gloomspite Gitz are my forever army, though. Now, they’re being updated for 4th edition:

The big, new addition this time around are the Gitmob. These are the equivalent to the old ‘Common Goblins’. We’re got lots of Wolf Riders, chariots, and the might Doom Diver Catapult. Exciting. Following on from my Troggoths, Squiggly Beasts, and Moonclan, I am looking forward to adding another division to my Gloomspite Gitz.

Exalted Funeral releases a Monty Python-themed RPG – God, I’m so mixed on this. I love Monty Python, but I think this game would be hellish because it threatens to bring out the worst in Monty Python fans. Let me clarify; shouting “ni” or “it’s a dead parrot!” is not high humour. Monty Python was such a break from the conventions of the time and so ground breaking in many ways, and it really grates to see it boiled down to just a bunch of trite catchphrases trotted out as references; a form of the sort of conformity that Monty Python challenged so effectively.

Back on topic! It’s a light system, There seems to be a mix of premade adventures and tools to create your own. I’d be keen to take a look through this book and see how much of it is prescriptive and soundbitey, and how much more more feel and ethos.

Ravensburger releases the Archazia’s Island set for Lorcana – Lorcana continues to see a lot of play at home. It’s a fun, light TCG that we really enjoy. We also held a recent event, which went very well.

Each set that comes out comes with an Illumineer’s Trove. It’s a cool storage box for your cards, along with dividers and 8 packs. There’s no denying that packs are always a risk and you are generally better buying singles, but it’s a nice set, and opening packs is fun.

MTG Tarkir Dragonstorm boosters for preorders – Tarkir is coming back! It’s great to see Magic return to a classic plane and many long-term players seem really excited to get back into it.

As part of the release, the boosters are on their way! As usual, there are both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. The Collector Boosters are full of lovely, shiny foil cards, whereas the Play Boosters are more affordable, and are more suitable for drafting and whatnot.

Kobold Press releases a 5E Black Flag edition of The Old Margreve – The previous 5E edition of Kobold Press’ The Old Margreve is one of my favourite 5E supplements. It’s a great book, full of interesting adventures, rules, characters and ideas. The setting of the living forest really appeals to me. Now, Kobold has put out an edition for ‘black flag’ independent 5E roleplaying, for titles such as Kobold’s own Tales of the Valiant.

I’m not sure I entirely get the point of this one. If the goal is 5E compatibility, and there’s already a 5E copy, then… okay? I suppose it can be brought more into line with the language, layout, and ethos of Tales of the Valiant? Either way, if this is the same content, then I can confidently say that this will be excellent.
