It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases a new General’s Handbook for Warhammer Age of Sigmar – It’s time for a whole new season of war… and hammers. The 2025-26 General’s Handbook is up for preorder and I’m pretty hyped:

I’m getting back into Age of Sigmar after a bit of a lull following the change of edition. This seems to have been a common thread among many of our club members, but we’re seeing a resurgence in advance of this book’s release. I’m hoping this will see a real return to the Mortal Realms for our local club, The Northern Knights!

Atomic Mass Games to release Phoenix & Phoenix Unleashed for Marvel Crisis Protocol – Fire! Lots and lots of fire! Here’s a new box for Crisis Protocol with Phoenix. It also has… Phoenix! They’re not the same, though; one has more fire:

I’m not going to pretend to have the knowledge of Crisis Protocol or of Marvel more generally to really know the difference between the two miniatures. They both look great, though. I assume one is a more powerful version of the character, and it’s on a waaaay bigger base.

Snarling Badger releases Reign in Iron – Snarling Badger is putting out another ruleset? Fantastic! Let me buy it and never play it! This one features a mix of demons and robots:

This builds upon Snarling Badger’s first tuleset, Reign in Hell. At a glance, it looks like if you’re already into Reign in Hell, you can use those demons as a starting point and them expand out with robots. I dunno. I have bought it, so will take a closer look soon!

Handiwork games releases their horror RPG, FiveEvil – 5E? Boo! Horror? Yay! I’m always interested in cool, horror-themed RPGs. Lets take a look!

This promises to be a ” This is media-literate deconstruction of the primary RPG paradigm of the day”. Now, I’m just a complicated country lawyer, but them’s a lotta words without a super-clear meanin’…
I ask you this.
In all seriousness, this looks really cool, and I just enjoy poking fun at some slightly pretentious language from time to time.

Mantic releases limited edition Fireteam Phoenix for the Halo miniatures game – As much as I don’t hugely find Halo an interesting franchise, I do like these Fireteam packs that Mantic has been putting out for the miniatures game. Here’s a limited edition one that will only be available for convention season:

It’s not my favourite Spartan fireteam; that would be Fireteam Cerberus. Still, they are cool. The miniatures are dynamic. I always feel that Mantic’s miniatures can be a bit hit or miss. These are definitely in the hit category!

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Blades of Damocles @ Spalanz – A review of a Black Library Warhammer 40,000 novel. I definitely agree that, with all the Space Marine-centric fiction we’ve had up to now, the bits of 40K where we get more of a focus on other factions is often far more interesting.
Blades of Damocles – Phill Kelly @ Wordaholic Anonymous – Another review of the same novel. I like to get multiple viewpoints on things. The conclusions of the two reviews are quite different, with different overall views of the books, which I really like. It’s fun to see when things appeal to some people and not to others, and why.
May 2025 Gaming @ Dude! Take Your Turn! – Not many in here that I’ve played! Doomling, which I need to play some more for a review, is one. Dune Imperium: Uprising is another. Looks like a good month, though!
Casual Chat: Final Fantasy I Game Review @ J. M. Casual Blog – A fun review of the game that started the Final Fantasy series. I’m looking forward to watching as this blogger works their way through the rest of the series.
The Silver Bayonet – British Unit @ Lair of the Lagomorph – The Silver Bayonet is another skirmish game that looks like a lot of fun. There are so many little skirmish games I was to build up. These minis look great, and it’s a good writeup, too.
