It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases the Canoptek Circle for Kill Team and 40K – I’ve always had a soft spot for the Canoptek side of the Necron range; spindly limbs, floating menace, and that uncanny blend of ancient and alien. So, a whole Kill Team built around them? Yes please!

The kit delivers a satisfying mix of familiar forms and new flourishes, with plenty of dynamic posing and crisp detail. It’s a great excuse to break out the metallics and glowy paints, and a welcome expansion of the Necron aesthetic beyond the usual ranks of warriors and immortals..

Scroll for Initiative releases their new 5E supplement, The Campaign Handbook – A new release from Scroll for Initiative, The Campaign Handbook is a digital toolkit for DMs who want to run a full 5e campaign with less prep and more payoff. It’s pitched as a guide from level 1 to 20, with structure, flexibility, and a healthy dose of inspiration.

The PDF is cleanly laid out and packed with practical tools: prep lists, campaign arcs, encounter ideas, and advice for improvising without losing the plot. It’s not a setting or adventure; it’s a framework, designed to help you build your own. If you’ve ever stalled out mid-campaign or struggled to keep momentum, this might be the scaffolding you need.

CGE releases a new edition of Codenames – Codenames is such a nice game. You can play it with all sorts of groups and it just works. There have been a number of spinoffs and reskins, but CGE is now releasing an updated 2025 edition of the original game.

This new edition updates the word list, refreshes the art, and includes a box insert to keep everything neat and tidy. Seemingly, the rulebook is more streamlined, though I didn’t really have any problem with the old one. I don’t feel a burning need to replace my old set, but for those only now buying into it, you’re getting a smoother experience.

Atomic Mass releases a new X-Men starter set for Marvel Crisis Protocol – Atomic Mass Games has given the X-Men their own sizeable, dedicated starter set, and it’s a beauty. Whether you’re new to Marvel Crisis Protocol or just want a clean way to field your favourite mutants, this box has you covered..

You get ten miniatures; a mix of X-Men and Brotherhood staples like Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, Mystique, and more. There’s more in here, including dice, measuring tools, terrain, and all the cards and tokens needed to play. It’s a full force in one box. For fans of mutant drama and fast-paced skirmishes, this is the a great way to dive in.

Steamforged Games releases Frozen and Forgotten set for Warmachine – Steamforged’s latest Warmachine release, Frozen and Forgotten, is a narrative-rich starter box that pits two very different forces against each other: the frostbitten survivors of the Dusk Final Hunt and the deathless horrors of the Orgoth Graveborn. It’s a great way to jump into the new edition or expand your collection with fresh plastic..

The box includes two 30-point Command Cadres, each built around a named warcaster; Lanyssa Ryssyl for the Dusk and Anathia for the Orgoth. The miniatures are hard plastic, with crisp detail and dynamic sculpts that showcase the game’s evolving aesthetic.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Valten, Exalted of Sigmar and Flagellants @ Lair of the Lagomorph – As a character, I feel Valten was a tad underutilised. I love him a lot, especially the later Valten miniatures with the beard. I love seeing this interpretation of him for AoS!
And Finally, The Wurmspat @ A Tabletop Gamer’s Diary – Beautiful. I love this set. I should paint them up! I really need to. These ones are looking great.
Breaking Out the Brushes: Minis, Terrain, and a Little Igor Tribute @ Tabletop Thoughts – Some lovely minis here, and it’s always great to see anyone getting their miniatures printed up. Thanks for sharing!
Looking into Lorcana @ Spalanz – Go ooooon. Go ooon! Give in. Dive in! The water’s lovely.
Best 3 Games with…D-Day! @ The Players’ Aid – Another list of wargames that I probably won’t buy, but I do love the idea of them. All three of these games look excellent, but I just don’t feel I’d get them to the table enough to justify them.

Those Necrons do look good, you’re right. I’ve been eyeing them up myself recently, hadn’t realised the main guy (Geomancer?) has a wraith-tail with little feet on it – that design is just 👌🏻
