Resolutions 2026: February Roundup

It’s one thing to set resolutions, and quite another to hold oneself to them.  I intend to review my progress monthly toward each of the resolutions.  Welcome, then, to our roundup for February 2026.  Let’s start with a reminder of where we got to last month:

Now, let’s take a look at what sort of progress was made in February.

February Roundup: Painting

It’s been a quieter month on the painting front. I didn’t really do much in the first half of February, but did manage to get a few minis painted up in the second half.

The bigger group I got painted was a set of plastic Prussians for Trench Crusade:

This was a really fantastic kit. I’d love to expand these in the future, but I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get them to the table any time soon.

I then also managed to get some more RPG miniatures finished:

These are, again, from the Heroes Infinite line from Raging Heroes. I’ve got a stack more of these waiting for some attention.

I feel that I’m still on track towards that target of 200 complete miniatures! Here were the totals for the end of last month:

  • Purchased: 0
  • Painted: 32

With the Prussians and the RPG miniatures finished, here are the additions for February:

  • Purchased: 0
  • Painted: 13

And then, through mathemagical means, the updated totals are:

  • Purchased: 0
  • Painted: 45

Cracking on! Next up, I have yet more RPG miniatures to finish. These will likely the next completed models. I’d like to maybe do some terrain. I have Goblins to paint as well. I could see the Daemons as an army that I could complete. There’s plenty to get on with!

February Roundup: Gaming

The goal for this year, as with last year, is to play 30 different games. Up to the start of this month, I had only played a single game:

  1. Magic: the Gathering (Commander)

This month, I’ve added a handful of games to the list

I’ve not played a lot of games in February. I did a little more Commander. I played some D&D with a group of kids, though I’m struggling to manage to find time for that right now. I got Viscounts back to the table; that’s always a treat.

As is normal with Viscounts, I lost. I always lose. It’s a testament to how good the game is that I still love it, despite an unending record of abject failure. Woo and/or yay!

The new thing this month, really, was Burrows & Badgers. I got this last year and painted up a couple of crews. It’s great to finally get the game to the table.

I loved it. It runs so smoothly! I wrote up a little first impressions post which is just full of praise for the game.

In terms of Commander, I’ve not really gotten into our club challenge yet with my dragons. I’ve been toying around with a couple of budget (sub-£20) decks. They’ve been a lot of fun.

I like both decks, and I might talk about them later. I could definitely see myself gradually upgrading them as I play. It feels like a more natural, experiential progression rather than just starting top-down with a strong list. Roon has not seen much success as he tends to play very differently, depending on what cards come out. Maralen finally popped off in a game this Thursday. I very much had full control of the table, but I just couldn’t close the game quickly, and it became a bit of a slog until I did manage to close the deal. I need more finishers in there.

February Roundup: Writing

With a mix of short and long posts, I once again managed a fair few posts over my goal of one per day. In all, I posted 44 posts in February. That total includes a handful of reviews:

Still got a fair few reviews sitting in the queue, waiting to be posted.

Here were my other wordier posts for February:

As an aside, I’ve also continued to post on Weather in my Ribs. Every so often, I’ve been sharing a poem on here if I’m particularly satisfied with it.
