Jace Beleren has a habit of “fixing” things until they break, and his latest project, the Echoverse, is no exception. While the lore for the October 2026 set, Reality Fracture, is the usual high-stakes Multiversal drama, the actual pack-opening experience is pretty interesting, too.
Wizards is leaning into a “two-for-one” gimmick that actually respects your time.

The standout feature is the Echoed Pair. In every play booster, if you pull a legendary card, you are guaranteed to find its mirrored, Echoverse version in the same pack.
Instead of hunting through an entire booster box to find the “What If?” version of a character, the original and the reflection are bundled together. It’s a straightforward move that keeps the fractured reality theme front and centre without making you jump through hoops.
The “Echoverse” versions aren’t just simple art swaps; they’re full-on color shifts. It’s basically “Opposite Day” for the Multiverse’s heaviest hitters. Take Chandra for example. In addition to the expected red version, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, you’ve also got a blue-aligned ice mage version of everyone’s favorite firebrand, Chandra, Chill of Compliance. It’s weird, it’s frosty, and it’s a fun break from her usual “burn it all” personality.

If you aren’t looking to go full “whale” on a full booster box, the Draft Night box that we saw in the Lorwynn Eclipsed set makes a return and is a decent middle ground. It’s a self-contained setup for four players, including 12 Play Boosters and a single Collector Booster. It’s a low-pressure way to see the new art and try out the mirrored mechanics without breaking the bank
Reality Fracture (dropping in early October) looks to be interesting. We’re not talking reinvention, but it’s just a cool, flavour-first experiment that gives you two versions of the characters you already know. It’s simple, the collation gimmick is actually helpful for once, and “Blue Chandra” is a great conversation starter for your next Commander night.
