It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for a little digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
They are in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Hobby Gaming @ Ludology Lab – This is a nice article about a tabletop gamer discovering/getting into hobby gaming for the first time. The entry point for the author was the new Dark Imperium set for Warhammer 40,000, which is a nice set that I’ve had the opportunity to get a close look at recently. This article represents a great starting point in someone’s hobby and I’m keen to see some pictures from the author as these minis get painted.
Bandits (Infinity: Nomad) @ TTQ and F*ck it – I’ve read few posts on this blog and really like their style. The overall ethos of the blog, as summed up by their title, is something I’m trying to instill in myself with my current painting efforts. This post looks at some Infinity figures and, sure enough, with a simple paint scheme they look fantastic. I like the step by step approach the post takes and the reflective commentary. Another wee motivator to get my own Infinity stuff done!
The charity shop treasure hunt @ The Dice Must Be Loaded – I’ve never had much luck with charity shops when it comes to gaming. I’ve had the odd older game and a few RPG books, but no real gems. The author has had some great finds and takes some real joy in the hunt! A fun article about a noble pursuit.
The #$#!! Compendium of Netrunner Newbie Mistakes @ Cry of Frustration – This is a great summation of all the common mistakes made by people like me. I love Netrunner but I just don’t play it enough to have the best handle on all of the rules. A great little guide of mistakes to avoid and a good read.
Millennium Blades: Hobby Simulator @ Cantrip – Second time in as many weeks that I’ve linked this blog. This is a cool review of Mellinnium Blade which looks incredibly interesting and rather unique. Again, the article is really well written and makes really good use of pictures. I’m definitely gonna look out for this game, and maybe find out a little more.
On No Rerolls, we’ve been having a wee chat about Age of Sigmar this week. Specifically, about re-evaluating it and realising that it’s actually a really good game and that we should not really hold the destruction of the old Warhammer world against it.
See you next week!
