This site is talkin’ a bit more about **Triple Triad**, with a particular focus on the creation of custom cards. Now, obviously, your custom card can have whatever numbers you like on it, it’s yours! If, however, you would like to make your card “site legal”, you can follow the guide below to help you create fair and balanced cards.

It should also be mentioned that there really are *no* hard and fast rules and that these are guidelines intended to help create decks that were in line with and balanced against the original FF8 Deck.

The content below was created by Triple Triad community member and the brains behind the now-defunct Triple Triad v3 website, Stoicism. It was originally presented as plain text, produced in notepad and has been slightly adapted for readability.

All number combinations are listed in Clockwise motion starting from the North position. For example, 4938 where:

- ‘4’ is the North number
- ‘9’ is the East number
- ‘3’ is the South number
- ‘8’ is the West number

Some basic rules for numbers:

- Cannot have four equal sides [ex. 3333, 5555]
- Maximum Total Points is all the numbers combined. So the example above [4938] is equal to 24.
- There are no ‘Minimum Total Points’ guidelines for any of the levels.

Highest number allowed is the highest number you can use in a number combination for that level. Basically whatever number is listed first is the dominant number in the combination.

- For example, in 4938 the highest number is 9. (I would then list 9 first).
- So when it says that, it goes for any number in the combination. (Doesn’t matter where it is in order).

Highest Corner/Wedge Allowed = 5-4 (followed by ‘2 then 1’) / Which means:

- You can use 54 as a corner card or a wedge (For that particular level)
- Followed by the next highest number which is 2
- Then followed by the next highest number after that which is 1
- Where it says ‘2 then 1’ (Using as example), that first number [2] you CAN NOT go over
- ‘Followed by’ means the highest last two numbers you can use

Remember:

- the value ’10’ is equivalent to the value ‘A’ on a card.
- The rules for each level are based off of comparisons to the original Final Fantasy 8 deck.
- ‘Rares’ do not apply to the normal rules***
