Completed: 2nd Feculent Gnarlmaw

In my continued meandering. I happened upon another half-finished model, a Feculent Gnarlmaw! These are terrain pieces for the Maggotkin of Nurgle. You generally start with one of them. One of the specific subfactions allows you to begin with a second one. One character allows you to summon a third. It was my intention, therefore, to complete three of these trees.

This is the second Feculent Gnarlmaw that I’ve painted. It’s the only one of the three planned trees that will use the standard miniature:

I like the model but, in all honestly, it’s hard to get that excited about it. Ultimately, it’s just less cool than the bigger Gnarlmaw that I already finished some time ago:

The third model will be quite different when I eventually get around to it. It will be based on a different mini and will lean more heavily into the Sylvaneth-themed conversions that feature heavily in the Daemonic portion of the army.

Other than tha, I’m still meandering through projects, but I’m not really upset about it, like I was last year. I’m just doing stuff that makes me happy, and isn’t that the point of a hobby? I’m still working towards my goals, and I think the 40K Daemons will end up being my first completed army of the year.

Right now, on my desk, I’m looking at a few miniatures, including a Rogue Idol and Mannfred Von Carstein. I’ve also started printing a suitably Troggoth-themed Mercenary Mega-Gargant for my Gloomspite Gitz:

So, yeah, the year’s going pretty well so far in terms of hobby!

  1. That is gruesome! It’s interesting because that pink is vibrant and should be a ‘happy’ color, but the combination with the grey and that yellow and greenish-yellow gives it a morbid feel. Nice work!
