It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases a new Battletome for the Hedonites of Slaanesh – The forces of Slaanesh are not my go-to Chaos faction of choice, nor even in my top 3. They do have a nice range of miniatures, though. One of my regular opponents fields the Hedonites and I know he’s been eagerly awaiting an update to bring them in line with more modern Battletomes.

I’m looking forward to playing against the new Hedonites, and I do really feel that they needed a new update. They got some point decreases across the board in previous balance updates and, whilst that does help them stay a bit more competitive, it doesn’t make them any more interesting to play. I hope (and genuinely expect) that this book will be a quality of life improvement for Hedonite players.

PDF edition of Critical Role’s Tal’Dorei Reborn book published on DTRPG – Although Critical Role is not a show that I watch, I can appreciate that it has a pretty huge following. It is really quite popular. Previously, there have been Critical Role supplements from Green Ronin and from Wizards of Coast. Now, Darrington Press is releasing one:

If you’ve not heard of Darrington Press, it’s Critical Role’s publishing offshoot. This means that they have essentially taken this supplement in-house. It’s cool to see them branch out like this and take a bit more control over their own property and how it is represented in print.

Velnir’s Workshop releases a Shroomling race for 5E D&D – This little supplement is beautifully produced. It’s well presented. It’s full of gorgeous art… It’s just nice. Although it’s just 5 pages, I really enjoyed reading it. It’s actually the sort of content I’d like to be putting out.

The actual content is good, too. Over three pages, we not only get the rules for playing as the Shroomlings, but we also get some background on these wee folks, including their beliefs and traditions, naming conventions, and architecture. Yeah, for a small PDF, this is actually really solid.

AEG launches a Kickstarter campaign for a new board game, Let’s Go To Japan – this campaign was highlighted by someone on our club’s Discord:

The game looks interesting. It is also beautifully produced and illustrated. The price is also pretty reasonable, which isn’t always the case with this sort of game. Worth a look, I reckon.
Cubicle 7 taking preorders for the collector’s edition of Winds of Magic for WFRP – Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a great game. The newest edition from Cubicle 7 represents a real return to form after something of a dip under Fantasy Flight Games. Cubicle 7 is now releasing the Winds of Magic supplement, along with this beautiful collector’s edition:

The book itself will be solid. In terms of content, magic is so central to the Warhammer setting that this will almost be a compulsory purchase for many players. In terms of production quality, I’ve seen some slight issues with Cubicle 7’s 40K-themed games, but their work on WFRP has been much more consistent. The quality and attention to detail have seemed pretty good. This collector’s edition is particularly beautiful.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Zombicide Black Plague: Abominarat #Monstermarch7 @ Azazel’s Bitz Box – This is a gorgeous model. It captures the strange and often-comedic aspects of the Skaven. It is, of course, also painted well. Fantastic!
First Impressions: Downfall of the Third Reich from doit games @ The Players’ Aid – It’s cool seeing an early game from a new company. It sounds like doit games has done pretty well, apart from some slight issues with documentation, and that their first game is rather good.
What have The Sentry Box staff been up to March 6-18 @ The Sentry Box – It’s been a while since I featured the Sentry Box. I love the conversions in this post. They look fantastic, whilst also being relatively simple. I also really enjoyed the John Scalzi book that they mention.
Top Three AoS Lists for Wardolly Weekend @ Woehammer – I feel that there haven’t been all that many Ironjawz lists in Woehammer’s Top 3 posts for some time, so it’s great to see them make a return. It’s also fun to see a Sons of Behemat list!
Quarter 4, Week 2 Update: 01101000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111 @ Hammer the Backlog – Oh, there are gorgeous! I love that yellow, in particular. I’d love to do something like that for my Votann at some point. Still struggling to come up with a scheme for those chaps.
