Throwback Thursday: Choosing an RPG for a New Group

This was a nice article from back in 2018. A group of friends were keen to try out an RPG and asked me to facilitate this. I, of course, was keen. They were pretty open to the idea of trying something that wasn’t D&D as well! That’s a rare treat these days. There’s nothing wrong with D&D, of course. I play a lot of D&D and I enjoy it. I do consider it in this post. It’s just become the default and it can be hard to sell some folk on other games. That’s a pity.

I share some thoughts on lots of really great RPGs in this post. I really like writing this sort of post, where I just go on about stuff that I enjoy, and which makes me happy. I like to be happy.

Most of the games in this list should not be a surprise to regular readers. Y’all know I love The Dresden Files. Y’all know I love Paranoia. Y’all know I love Vampire: the Masquerade. All of this is known. I do rather wear my heart on my sleeve with this stuff!
