Well, I guess we’re going with the Pestilens, then, eh? Having painted Skabbik’s Plaguepack and the old, metal Lord Skrolk earlier this week, I turned my attention to my first unit of Plague Monks.
These minis were rough.
These were very much salvaged miniatures, as many of my Pestilens and wider Skaven miniatures will be. They were rough, with particularly bad mold lines still on the tails. I also really mangled up some parts of the miniatures removing them from their heavily textured, sandy bases.
I decided to 3D print some bases to match the sewer theming of Skabbik’s Plaguepack. Usually, I try to keep all of my Chaos armies on swamp bases to let me easily ally between different factions within the same Grand Alliance, much like I do with my Destruction armies on their desert bases. However, although Skaven are part of Chaos, they’re still very much their own thing, so I wasn’t as fussed about them matching.
Here’s what I ended up with:

Yeah, not bad! I do like the general colour scheme. I think that as I go on with the skaven, I’m going to keep the yellowy lower robes as a common theme and then use another colour to signify the clan. For example, Eshin might be black, whilst Skryre might be blue.
In terms of Plague Monks, that’s 20 down, with another 40 to go. It seems pretty doable. I’ll get some Censer Bearers done soon, too. I’m currently working on another character though. He’ll likely be my next finished miniature.

Congrats on getting the first 20 done. I’ve always liked these minis, they have a certain amount of charm to them. 😃

Ta. Next 20 are ready for priming, along with an old, metal grey seer and a verminlord.
