Completed: Warrior Priest of Sigmar

I’ve finished the first model in my entries for Woehammer’s Slow Grow event. This is the Warrior Priest who will, for now, lead my crusade-themed Empire army. As discussed earlier this week, this was printed from an STL by Titan Forge Miniatures. The print turned out well and I’m pretty happy with how the painting went:

I kind of wanted this army to be red, but I also wanted the Chaos Dwarfs to be red, so something had to give.  The green works well.  the basing is alright.  It didn’t picture well when I tried, but the water towards the back of the base looks good.  I tried out a water effect paste on it.

In line with the tasks laid out in Woehammer’s Slow Grow Challenge, I’ve also got a name and some background:

Heinrich Volkmarsson

Born in the heart of Altdorf, the bustling capital of the Empire, Heinrich Volkmarsson’s childhood was marked by the shadow of chaos that lurked at the fringes of society. His family, staunch devotees of Sigmar, instilled in him a deep sense of duty and righteousness. From an early age, Heinrich displayed an uncanny resilience to the corrupting influence of the Ruinous Powers, earning the admiration of local priests.

As Heinrich matured, his unwavering faith and combat skills caught the attention of the clergy. Recognizing his potential, he was accepted into the prestigious Sigmarite training academy, where he underwent rigorous physical and spiritual training. His innate connection with Sigmar’s divine power soon became evident, as he displayed a remarkable talent for channeling the divine energies to smite his foes.

Heinrich’s rise to prominence was swift, and he became a respected leader among the Warrior Priests. His exploits on the battlefield were legendary, as he led the charge against the Empire’s enemies with his mighty warhammer, a symbol of both his martial prowess and unwavering faith. Tales of his deeds spread throughout the Empire, inspiring both soldiers and civilians alike.

Volkmarsson’s dedication to the people extended beyond the battlefield. In times of crisis, he could be found ministering to the wounded, offering solace to the downtrodden, and delivering fiery sermons to bolster the spirits of those facing despair. His charismatic presence and unyielding commitment to justice made him a beloved figure in the Empire.

However, with fame came challenges. Heinrich faced internal strife within the church, as some clergy members questioned his unorthodox methods and radical approach to combating the forces of chaos. Undeterred, Volkmarsson remained resolute, standing firm in his belief that desperate times required bold and decisive action.

As the dark forces of chaos continued to threaten the Empire, Heinrich Volkmarsson emerged as a symbol of hope, a beacon of Sigmar’s divine wrath. His journey, marked by both triumphs and tribulations, continues to shape the fate of the Old World, as the Warrior Priest of Sigmar stands vigilant, ready to face the encroaching darkness with unshakeable faith and a hammer of righteous fury.
