Humble Bundle: Cory Doctorow Novel Collection

Talk about timing, eh? Just last week, I finished and reviewed my first Cory Doctorow book, and now his novels are featured in a bundle over at Humble Bundle. I mentioned in my review of The Bezzle that this was the second Marty Hench book. I notice the first one is in this bundle.

In total, there are 18 items and the bundle is priced at £14.34. Here’s what you get for your money:

So, as I mentioned in my review, I’m not all that familiar with Doctorow’s writing, but there are some in here that sound really good to me. First, there’s Red Team Blues as another Marty Hench book. I’d be up for reading more about this character.

Something I like (and respect) about Doctorow is that much of his work feels quite personal. He wears his political views on his sleeve and they permeate his writing. Pirate Cinema looks like an interesting novel that is overtly political in plot and theme, and which deals with the important topic of copyright law.

I like modern fantasy as a genre. It’s why I’m so desperate to play Changeling again! It’s also who Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town looks fascinating. I like the whimsy of it. It seems strange and I am here for that.

Finally, I’m keen to read Doctorow’s first novel, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. It’s always interesting to read and author’s first published book, and the idea of a Disney World run by rival adhocracies is an appealing one.

The bundle seems fun. I enjoyed dipping my toes into Doctorow’s writing, and I think I’ll be grabbing this bundle to really dive in. It’s certainly worth the price of admission.
