StoryBundle is a website that presents of bundle of sci-fi and fantasy novels, novellas, and stories from both new and established writers. This time, we’re looking at a sci-fi bundle with a theme of mystery. As usual, there are two tiers to the bundle. The first will set you back $5 and get you four titles:
- Synthesis: Weave by Rexx Deane
- Agrotharn by Milo James Fowler
- Infinite Waste by Dean F. Wilson
- Grand Master’s Pawn by Aurora Springer
Agrotharn is a book that does not really sound like it’s for me, but I really love that it is boldly what it is. It’s one of these classic-style adventures that embrace the barbarian hero trope, even complete with a loyal pet triceratops. Again, not for me, but I admire the genre.
Weave sounds more interesting to me, being a mystery with scattered clues and wide-reaching implications. I’m particularly curious about the tsunami on board a space station, as described in the blurb. We do enjoy a good mystery, here!

Up your pledge to $20 and you will get not only the four items listed above, but also a further seven items:
- Lift Off by Tyrean Martinson
- Dead Star – The Triple Stars Vol. 1 by Simon Kewin
- Dark Nebula – Books 1-3 by Sean Willson
- Birds of Paradise by Rudolf Kremers
- The Galathea Chronicles by J.J. Green
- Loophole by Ian Stewart
- Milijun by Clayton Graham
The concept of Loophole really appeals to me, of two universes joined by a pair of wormholes and a shared moon that is claimed by both universes.
Dead Star and Birds of Paradise both sound like classic space operas. I like the idea of a sudden leap forward in technology not being entirely a good thing in Birds of paradise, whilst Dead Star deals with a corrupt, theocratic empire. Both books seem to have a big focus on investigation via history. In Dead Star, this takes place in a planet that was thought to be mythical, whilst the main character in Birds of Paradise is an archaeologist.
There’s a further item you can get by signing up to the newsletter:
- Home World – The Triple Stars – Vol. 0
This is seemingly a prequel to Dead Star, which actually sounds pretty good as well.
Given that I enjoy mystery and sci-fi, this bundle is a winner for me. The descriptions of a lot of these novels tick a lot of trope boxes, but then those tropes have become the building blocks of story. That’s largely how culture works; touching on shared experiences and points of reference.
