The Necron army from the Indomitus boxed set was something of a turning point for me, hobbywise. Up until this point, I hadn’t really done a lot of painting in several years. I just didn’t make the time, and it wasn’t something that I really enjoyed or looked forward to. I did get excited about the Necrons though, and 40K more generally.

This led to me really making a push, and it’s something I’ve broadly managed to keep up, especially over the past 2 years:
- 2020 – 83 minis
- 2021 – 68 minis
- 2022 – 204 minis
- 2023 – 510 minis
That’s 865 minis. So, factoring in my progress to date this year, that’s over 1,000 mimiatures over the past few years. I’m pretty happy with that! Sadly, the experience ofactually playing 40K was a little disappointing, and I found myself drifting more towards Age of Sigmar as a game that’s just more fun to play, but I still love the models and am happy that they reinvigorated my interest in painting.
