It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases Dark Mechanicus Heavy Stalkers for Legions Imperialis – I’ve still not taken any sort ofp linge into Legions Imperialis, or Titanicus. Titanicus is pretty big just now at our club, though. The new dark mechanicus stuff is right bonny, though.

Love ’em. My biggest complaint about Legions Imperialis has long been the overabundance of Space Marines. The miniatures look great, but I wanted more variety, and that’s definitely been delivered lately. GW continues to knock it out of park with these releases!

Gen42 Games releases a magnetic edition of Hive – I love Hive! John Yianni is also a really good guy who donated several copies to our school a few years ago, after I posted about our tabletop gaming group. Here’s a new version:

This is really cheap! I suppose it’s just an envelope of fridge magnets, but the game is so good, and it’s funny to see it playable on your very own fridge. our school building also has these strange, steel walls; they’d work really well on those!
Possum Creek Games releases physical edition of Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast – This looks interesting, and certainly quite unique. The thing is, reading and re-reading the description, I can’t say I understand fully what exactly it actually is…

It looks unique, interesting, and driven by character and narrative. These are all huge plus points to me, and I’m very curious as to how this actually plays! I originally flagged this a while back when the digital edition was released, but the physical copies are now making it into stores.

Onyx Path releases a new edition core book for Realms of Pugmire – Dungeons & Doggos? I really love Pugmire as a concept; a world of self-aware, evolved dogs, living in the ruins of human civilisation.

It’s a strange sort of fantasy that really works as an RPG setting, but one which appeals to me on account of both the whimsy and the potential for really interesting adventures. The writing was top notch in the previous rulebook, which I own, and I’m always on board for anything by Onyx Path.

Renegade Game Studios releases a 2nd edition of Risk Godstorm – I have a copy of the first edition of this that still sits on the dusty shelf of shame. It’s a version of Risk that actually went down really well with the proper board gaming community; a notoriously hard to please bunch once you take out the tendency to self-justify ridiculously overproduced Kickstarter games.

This is a chunky box, and is a gamier version of Risk that we can really get our teeth into. The map is pretty, even if the game pieces aren’t my favourites. They’re fine (good, even) for what they are, I suppose. I need to get it to the table at some point.
Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Battletome Review: Skaven @ Woehammer – This is an extensive and detailed review of the Skaven Battletome. I enjoyed it a lot, and will definitely return to it when I look at my own Skaven. It also doubles down pretty heavily on stats, if that’s your thing.
Passing the Torch @ Stalker7 – I really enjoyed this post, and it utterly chimed with me. I play games with younger groups a lot, and my after-school group also informed a big chunk of my second postgrad.
Top 20 D&D 5th Edition Adventures @ Game Night Blog – Let’s be honest, I actually started reading this post by jumping to the adventure that came first to ensure that the writer was a sane and sensible individual. They are. I was satisfied, and then read the rest of the list, enjoying it a lot.
Goblin Archers @ Lair of the Lagomorph – I do like these classic goblins, and it’s great that The Old World will bring them back into current use. And, of course, these specific miniatures are also rather splendidly painted!
Painting Space Marines Very Quickly @ Deathzap – This is a cool post with some really solid advice to get your army battle-ready as quickly as possible. I also really like the approach taken, of going to colourful metallics. I like colourful metallics.
