Resolutions 2025: March Roundup

It’s one thing to set resolutions, and quite another to hold oneself to them.  I intend to review my progress monthly toward each of the resolutions.  Welcome, then, to our roundup for March 2025.  Let’s start with a reminder of where we got to last month:

Now, let’s take a look at what sort of progress was made in March.

March Roundup: Painting

After managing one miniature in February, I completed 4 in March. The first miniatures I finished were a pair of Marrowscroll Heralds for my Flesh-Eater Courts army:

I’m really happy with how these turned out. Both were painted during a club painting event. It was nice to sit together, catch up, and just chill with some hobbying:

I followed this up with another couple of characters for the army, including a Crypt Haunter Courtier and Ushoran, the Summer King:

I’m pretty happy with these minis, all in all. The Ushoran is a little scrappy, but he’s fine.

The rest of the month saw me working on my Armies on Display board. More on that, soon!

  • Purchased: 9
  • Painted: 5

March Roundup: Gaming

With Commander and Lorcana featuring more heavily in my rotation at the moment, and a goal to get more miniature games played, I’ve reduced this year’s target to 30 games. Up to the beginning of March, I had played the following games this year:

  1. Magic: the Gathering
  2. Disney Lorcana
  3. Warhammer: Age of Sigmar
  4. Apiary
  5. Architects of the West Kingdom
  6. 7 Wonders
  7. Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition
  8. Raiders of the North Sea
  9. Paranoia: The Uncooperative Board Game

This month, I’ve added a whole bunch of games to the list:

  1. Unstable Unicorns
  2. Viscounts of the West Kingdom
  3. Wayfarers of the South Tigris
  4. Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy
  5. Clank! In! Space!
  6. Clank!
  7. Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress

It was fun to play Clank! for the first time in a long time. I was previously a bit burnt out on this game, but I actually had a great time getting back to it when our club ran a Clank! evening:

We played Clank! In! Space! first. It’s a more complex game than the original Clank!, and it’s probably a better game, but after a game of it, I enjoyed following it up with a lighter, quicker game of the original.

My game of Eclipse was a lot of fun! There were 6 of us playing. I was initially worried that it would be clunky and drag on, but it actually went really smoothly. I’d played it a couple of times before, but the rest of the table had played a lot, so they really had the rules down and the game was excellent.

I also loved getting Viscounts to the table. That was really excellent.

March Roundup: Writing

The month felt a little lighter, writing-wise. There were fewer big, more involved posts. There were a trio of reviews, though:

  1. A review of the Family Matters Commander deck
  2. A review of the Food & Fellowship Commander deck
  3. March’s Game of the Month

My biggest highlight outside of the reviews was probably this post:

quieter month, but progress is progress.
