It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases Ursarax Cohort for Horus Heresy’s Adeptus Mechanicus army – I had assumed these were just robots, but seemingly there are still some human components in there. God, the Mechanicum is dark…
Some really fantastic models for Horus Heresy, and I’m always delighted to see minis from that game that aren’t just more Space Marines. It’s also cool to see some really brutal melee units for the Ad Mech.

Aaron A. Reed releases his 2nd edition of Downcrawl – This one isn’t a game in itself, but is a toolkit for your games. It’s all about helping you to build vast and strange underground environments. Also, it’s a game in itself as well?
I like the tone of this. It seems fun, and weird, and anarchic. I like all of these words in my RPG products! Yeah, it’s great as a toolkit for use with any RPG, but also has optional game rules that you can employ, including for GMless and solo play.

MTG Tarkir Dragonstorm Commander decks available for preorders – Tarkir is coming back! It’s great to see Magic return to a classic plane and many long-term players seem really excited to get back into it.
As part of the release, 5 Commander Decks are coming out; one for each clan. It’s great to see people clamouring to grab the deck for their respective clans and dive into the Dragonstorm.

Cephalofair releases 2nd edition of Gloomhaven – Gloomhaven, the biggest, chunkiest dungeon crawler that Kickstarter backers scramble to rationalise is getting a new edition!
I say that as a backer. I say that as a backer who hasn’t played the game and doesn’t feel the need to justify my purchasing decisions. The game itself is genuinely supposed to be excellent, though. The campaign is supposed to be immensely fun. I imagine the new edition will refine that further.

Star & Flame Games releases Land of Eem Corebook – This looks so cool! advertised as “The Lord of the Rings meets The Muppets”, this is another interesting, weird game:
It’s seemingly based on a graphic novel called Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo, and the book series Dungeoneer Adventures. I’ve not read any of these, but the game has me curious. Also, it’s unusual to see a D12-based system!

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Daily Commander: Magnus the Red @ J.M. Casual Blog – Magnus did everything wrong. Fight me. Regarding this post though, he does feel like a fun commander, and it makes sense that he’s Izzet. The focus on spellcasting and producing Chaos Spawn is a lot of fun. Do I have an Izzet commander deck yet?
Cathay revealed for The Old World @ Scent of a Gamer – it felt that when they first started discussing The Old World, that it would be very tied to the third Total War game. Cathay and Kislev were discussed right away. Then the focus shifted and it became more about recreating the old game. Now, Cathay is back on the table and they’re looking pretty gorgeous.
March 2025 Gaming @ Dude! Take Your Turn! – Let’s see how many of these games I’ve played. Not many, actually. Love Letter… Ark Nova… Viscounts… Scout. that’s all. Some interesting games here, though. Not surprised to see Combat Commander, of course!
Marvel United – Marvel Zombies – Marvel Crisis Protocol: Bob, Agent of Hydra @ Azazel’s Bitz Box – Bob! he looks great, and there’s something I really like about seeing different versions of him all together. I do love a nice, vibrant paint job!
Fallout Wasteland Warfare – Raider Power Armor I @ Kuribo’s Painting – The power armour (and paint job!) look great. What I also enjoyed was the discussion around the ol’ pile of grey, too. It’s a nice, reflective post.
