It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Games Workshop releases Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch – Gorgeous! This might be my second favourite of the four Daemon Primarchs, after Mortarion:

I feel they really hit this out of the park. The tail, the armour, the glorious hair. I love it. I don’t have a whole lot more to say, really…

Sky Bradley & Henry Langdon releases Clanbook Toreador for 5th edition Vampire: The Masquerade – Right, this looks cool. I like their books. I reviewed their Gangrel book last year and I’ve got another review sitting half-finished. I’ve been sent a copy of this to review, and I’m excited to dive into it.

As much as I loved the Gangrel book, I must admit to being far more excited for the Toreador, as it’s a clan I really like. Actually, my first Sabbat character was a Toreador Antitribu. I really like the tragedy of this clan.

Preorders available for MTG Final Fantasy booster packs – Final Fantasy’s Magic set is on the way! It does strike me as slightly odd that this is going ahead whilst there is an ongoing Final Fantasy card game, but whatever. The boosters are up for early preorder.

As usual, there will be Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, along with the previously-revealed Commander decks. This looks to be a big, full set. I’m really keen to see what we get once everything has been revealed.

Greater Than Games taking preorders for Compile: Main 2 – I recently picked up Compile: Main 1. I wanted it for a while, but it was aggressively out of stock. I need to get it to the table now, and will be aiming to do that this month. I certainly want to try it before this second offering comes out, so I know whether I want it or not…

The game has some Netrunner vibes, and seems pretty simple once you get into it. The decks are quite small, and the cards feel well-produced. I like the feel of the plastic cards you use when choosing your protocols. I actually picked up the expansion and mat with the first set.

Star & Flame Games releases The Mucklands campaign setting for Land of Eem – The Land of Eem just feels so cool! I previously looked at the core rulebook. Today, my attention has been stolen by a campaign setting book; The Mucklands:

At a chunky 439 pages this is a weighty tome that’s full of detail to fill out the setting! The campaign is built as a hexcrawl and includes some beautiful maps alongside all the information. I’m very keen to further explore this game.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Nostalgia Sickness – Living in the Past @ True Line of Sight – I built some Chaos Dwarfs, which are a legacy army in the same way as the Dark Elves. The list for those seemed decent, but I do get the frustration at knowing your army will not, for now, be given the full treatment. This is a lovely post about the nostalgic love the author has for his army.
The Miniature Painter’s Guide to Photography @ Plastic Craic – Useful! This is a well-illustrated deep dive into taking better photos of your minis. It’s something I find quite frustrating at times, so it’s likely worth a look for me.
Turnip28 Fodder @ A Loft Full of Lead – These look great. I need to print some up for myself, as I did back the Kickstarter.
Daily Commander: Cynette, Jelly Drover @ J.M. Casual Blog – A fun one! So many cool, mono-colour commanders come from the Jumpstart sets. My beloved Shroofus came from there, actually. I agree that she may not be the best commander for actually winning, but would be powerful in a lower-powered, thematic bracket.
How to Make a Photographic Background Display @ Woehammer – On the topic of photography, here’s a cool setup! This is a fun step by step on putting together a really cool display box for dynamic, thematic miniature photography.

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last 5 on Friday so there have been a fair few posts:
- A Battletech-themed Humble Bundle
- 6 Completed Crypt Horrors
- Eyeing up some commanders on Magic Monday
- A 3D-printable Humble Bundle
- My finished Armies on Parade board
- Kingmaking on Throwback Thursday
- My Flesh-Eater Courts Army on Parade
- A cartography-themed Humble Bundle
- Our club’s Armies on Parade contest
- Looking at Smothering Tithe on Magic Monday
- Our club’s model show painting contest
- A FEC-tastic WiP Wednesday
- A video game-themed Throwback Thursday
I’ve been oot an’ aboot! This means that no progress was made with painting. I did acquire a Doom Diver Catapult and the Gitmob boss in chariot, so that’s 2 miniatures added to the pile o’ purchases.
Purchased: 11
Painted: 22
Catch you next week!

I somehow missed the chance too preorder the new Fulfrim novel which i am rather mad about at the moment…

The preorders for new hardbacks and special editions are a real problem for Black Library. They’re not handling things well.
