5 on Friday 28/11/25

It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.

Releases & Previews

Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:

Games Workshop releases a new White Scars character, Suboden Khan – The White Scars finally get their bike‑mounted leader back on the tabletop. Suboden Khan rides into Warhammer 40,000 as the Chapter’s new spearhead character, bringing speed, aggression, and a striking miniature that captures the White Scars’ storm‑born style.

The model shows him thundering forward on a grav bike, with flat armour panels perfect for freehand or weathering. Rules‑wise, he leads the Spearpoint Task Force, giving White Scars players a character who embodies their hallmark hit‑and‑run tactics. It’s a release that feels both nostalgic and fresh. He’s an iconic Khan for a new era.

Sky Bradley & Henry Langdon release a V5 Clanbook for the Lasombra – This actually came out at the end of October, but I love these books and this release passed me by. I’m flagging it now! Sky Bradley and Henry Langdon have brought the Keepers fully into Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition with Clanbook: Lasombra. It’s a hefty PDF release that expands the shadows with new lore, player options, and storytelling guidance.

At 148 pages, this is a deep dive into Lasombra philosophy, Oblivion powers, and modern chronicles. You’ll find archetypes, character hooks, and tools for storytellers to weave the clan’s ruthless pragmatism into their games. For anyone running V5, it’s a polished, lore‑rich resource that finally gives the Clan of Shadows the spotlight they deserve.

Corvus Belli releases Northern Tribes Action Pack for Warcrow – Corvus Belli continues to flesh out the world of Warcrow with the Northern Tribes Action Pack. This new box brings a full cadre of warriors from the frozen frontier, adding a distinct flavour of resilience and ferocity to the game’s growing roster.

The set includes a complete force ready for play, with multipart miniatures that showcase the rugged aesthetic of the Northern Tribes. You’ve got heavy furs, brutal weapons, and dynamic poses that capture their wild energy. It’s a strong entry point for new players and a thematic expansion for veterans, giving Warcrow tables a dose of icy defiance and tribal identity.

Onyx Path releases their new RPG, Curseborne – Curseborne is a brand‑new dark fantasy roleplaying game from the good folks at Onyx Path. It’s pitched as a standalone system with its own mythos, blending gothic horror, mythic cycles, and modern storytelling into a fresh ruleset.

The core book introduces a world where players take on cursed heroes bound to ancient powers, navigating both personal tragedy and epic conflict. Mechanically, it leans into narrative‑driven play with streamlined dice pools and thematic character creation. It’s early days for the line, but the launch materials show a lot of promise.

Road to Infamy to release their cheese-themed board game, Formaggio – Designed by Ben Rosset (The Search for Planet X) and published by Road to Infamy Games, Formaggio builds on the simultaneous worker‑placement mechanics of Fromage. This time, you’re running a creamery in Italy, crafting, aging, and selling artisanal cheeses to earn prestige and become the most renowned cheesemaker in the land.

The box supports 1–4 players in 30–45 minutes, with new mini‑games for cheesemaking, seasonal abilities, platinum‑tier cheeses, and expanded structures. It’s fully playable on its own, but also mixes in with Fromage for more replayability.

Blog Posts & Articles

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:

Into the Odd – GMs Review @ The Giant Brain If you’re curious about how rules can shape storytelling in tabletop RPGs, this review of Into the Odd is well worth your time. It’s a thoughtful look at Chris McDowall’s design philosophy, showing how “rules exactly enough” can make exploration dangerous, combat fast, and play deeply engaging without ever bogging down the table.

Woehammer Old World Narrative Event: The Circle of Blood 21st/22nd March @ Woehammer We like Woehammer here. We like the top three lists. The stats posts aren’t really for us, but their other posts are usually interesting. They’ve run a few events now, and I’m always keen to highlight them when they do. If you’re in England-shire, go take a look.

Mastering Moonclan: Five Essential QOL Boosts @ Plastic Craic Plastic Craic is the best site for Destruction-based AoS content. There’s some solid advice here for fellow Gloomspite players. Most of it isn’t new stuff, but we’ve got some rules here that are easy to forget or overlook.

System Hack: Colony Sim Cortex Base Building @ Cannibal Halfling Gaming This latest System Hack post from Cannibal Halfling Gaming dives into the heart of colony sim design (base building) balancing RimWorld’s granular management with tabletop abstraction to create rooms, stations, and resource systems that drive tough, strategic decisions. It’s a thoughtful exploration of how tech trees, transportation, and overworld connections can make building your settlement feel alive without drowning in detail.

On Player-Directed Roleplay @ Roleplay Rescue’s Blog This reflection on an ongoing Cypher System campaign shows the power of player‑directed roleplay, where goals, connections, and choices drive the story into unpredictable territory. Using Jamison’s GMing methodology with the Cypher system, the sessions have become lighter to prep, more dynamic at the table, and full of escalating consequences; proof that when players call the shots, the game world comes alive in surprising and entertaining ways.
