5 on Friday 03/07/26

It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.

Releases & Previews

Every week there are many games, books, and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:

Games Workshop releases a new General’s Handbook for Age of Sigmar – As the summer approaches, we’re looking at a new “season” of AoS, as shaped by the latest edition of the General’s Handbook:

The 2026–27 General’s Handbook reshapes matched play with fresh battlepacks, new seasonal rules, and updated missions that push armies into sharper, more thematic clashes. Designed to define the next year of competitive AoS, it’s the must‑have guide for players looking to master the evolving battlefield and stay ahead of the meta.

Artel W releases The Dawnward Company, their Frieren-themed miniatures – It’s no secret that I really adore the anime series, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. It’s little surprise, then, that I was excited to see this set of miniatures from Artel W:

They’re potentially a little pricey for what they are, but it’s a lovely set. I really like how they’ve approached them. There’s a bit of a spin to make the characters their own to some extent, but they’re still ultimately recognisable. I think the best miniature here is actually Stark, which I might not have expected. They give him a real presence that I like. It’s great to see the iconic Mimic miniature, too!

Archon Studio releases the Siege Engines set for the World of Tanks TCG – The third set for the World of Tanks TCG is about to hit the shelves:

Do people play this game? We’re quite remote, and it hasn’t really made any impression here, as opposed to the sort of uptake that the Gundam card game has had. Looking online, the player base seems small, but pretty dedicated to the game. There’s not much of a secondary market as yet, which makes finding individual cards difficult and makes desirable cards really expensive already.

Chaosium releases a digital edition of the Noble’s Handbook for Pendragon – Pendragon has always maintained a posiiton near the top of RPGGeek’s rankings. It’s slid down into 4th, but that puts it ahead of everything that isn’t Fiasco Classic or some flavour of Call of Cthulhu. Very impressive, that.

This book is all about expanding the game for those characters who come out on top in the feudal system. It provides background, rules, social structures, and solo scenarios. In the true fashion of the idle rich, it also fully equips you to spend your time breeding your own warhorse. I mean, breeding horses with one another to achieve a perfect horse. I realise my original statement could have been… misconstrued. It was already available in physical format, but is now available digitally.

EDGE releases Welcome to Promise, a new starter set for the Arkham Horror RPG – The Arkham Horror RPG, currently sitting at number 658 in the RPGGeek ratings, is a game that nobody really seems to have asked for, but which appears interesting and well-presented.

I suppose that if you really don’t like percentile systems and prefer your dice to be cubes, this might eke out Call of Cthulhu for you. This replaces the previous starter set, which didn’t seem that old either. It’s stuffed full of stuff, though, with plenty of rules, handouts, dice, character sheets, and a map.

Blog Posts & Articles

The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:

Fallout Wasteland Warfare – Vault Security Done @ Kuribo’s Painting Yet more beautiful Fallout miniatures. He always knocks them out of the park in his painting.

Dyson’s Tomb of Horrors @ Dyson’s Dodecahedron This site always has the coolest maps. They’re so well done and clean. This time, we’ve got a really iconic dungeon.

First half 2026: Review of projects @ New Wonk Media A mid‑year check‑in on writing, GMing, and too many side projects. The author reflects on finished games, stalled fiction, a Bastionland‑inspired setting, an upcoming Stonetop campaign, and the ever‑growing pile of design work that somehow still feels energising rather than overwhelming.

Fifteen Sessions Deep @ Roleplay Rescue I can definitely relate to the point about the longevity (or lack thereof) of RPG campaigns. I’ve had two campaigns that each went on for years, whilst everything else lasted a few sessions at most. An interesting, reflective post.

The town’s growing… @ J’ai un planning chargé… Genuinely amazing terrain. The whole board just looks incredible. The little details like the scatter terrain, townspeople, and animals really bring it together as well and make it seem like a living village. Fantastic!.
