I wrote previously about our club running a budget brew Commander event. The budget was set at $50 and a deadline for list submission was set for the end of March. This was mainly to let people fiddle with lists and find the various cards they would need.
Any updates or additional lists will be edited into the post.
Commander Mustard
Led from the frontlines, this Boros Soldier tribal deck turns a wide token army into a crushing offensive force. Commander Mustard grants your ranks vigilance and haste for safe, relentless swings, while explosive anthems like Shared Animosity, Warleader’s Call, and True Conviction quickly turn everyday recruits into lethal threats. It’s fast, coordinated, and demands an instant board wipe.

Atemsis, All-Seeing
This mono-blue list plays a control game with a deadly twist, weaponising Atemsis’s rare alternate win condition. Packed with card draw engines, counters, and cheap untap effects, the deck aims to sculpt a hand with six distinct mana costs. Add in pingers like Viridian Longbow or Hermetic Study to deal direct damage, and Atemsis can eliminate an opponent out of nowhere in a single, swift blow.

Kastral, the Windcrested
Taking flight with an avian tribal theme, this Azorius deck leverages Kastral to continually recur small flyers and trigger powerful combat bonuses. Every successful swing rewards you with card selection, reanimation from the graveyard, or anthem buffs for your airborne squad. It’s an evasive, persistent swarm that keeps the pressure on from the clouds.

Rayami, First of the Fallen
This Sultai list plays like a sinister, ever-evolving Frankenstein’s monster. By sacrificing cheap creatures laden with keyword abilities (like hexproof, deathtouch, flying, and indestructible) Rayami traps them under blood counters and absorbs their power. Combined with steady card draw and sacrifice outlets, it quickly turns Rayami into an untouchable, multi-keyword nightmare that dominates the battlefield.

The Ur-Sphinx
This Esper list ramps straight into high-flying threats that overwhelm the table with massive card draw and spell triggers. Cost-reducers like Watcher of the Spheres and cascade effects like Ethersworn Sphinx help chain your biggest flyers together without losing momentum. Backed by solid control and game-ending reanimation, it dominates the skies through sheer aerial muscle.

Iroh, Tea master
This Boros list transforms combat into a diplomatic and chaotic affair, leaning hard into Goad and political group-hug mechanics. Led by everyone’s favourite tea-loving uncle, the deck forces your opponents to attack each other while you sit back and reap the benefits. Packed with flavorful Avatar-themed synergies and card-drawing peace offerings, it’s a cunning little deck that will be a lot of fun at the table.

Winota, Joiner of Ways
This explosive Boros list aims for fast, devastating combat phases by leveraging Winota’s ability to cheat big human threats onto the battlefield. By attacking early with cheap non-Human creatures and tokens like Goldhound and Ornithopter, the deck triggers Winota to spin straight into game-ending Humans like Angrath’s Marauders and Blade Historian. It’s aggressive, fast, and capable of taking down the entire table in a single turn.

Fynn, the Fangbearer
This mono-green list bypasses standard 40-life totals entirely by weaponising deathtouch into lethal poison counters. Armed with cheap, venomous creatures and lure effects that force unfavourable blocks, the deck aggressively applies pressure from turn one. Proliferate triggers and direct pinging equipment like Viridian Longbow ensure that once poison touches your opponents, their defeat is swift and inevitable.

Power Pack
This four-colour spellslinger list turns combat damage early, the deck continuously exiles high-impact instants and sorceries from the graveyard to cast them for free on future upkeeps. Packed with board wipes, combat tricks, and heavy-hitting spells, it’ll keep the table guessing while chaining together relentless free value.

Denzilore Fatrehold
This Azorius scry deck manipulates the top of the library to control the flow of the game with total precision. By turning every scry trigger into counters and battlefield value through proliferation and synergy, the deck smoothly scours for key pieces while keeping the board locked down. It builds a steadily growing defence until it cleanly seals victory, whether through overwhelming momentum or an unstoppable Approach of the Second Sun.

Ultron, Unlimited
This Dimir villain-tribal list floods the board with mechanical drones and iconic bad guys to wear opponents down. By leveraging token generation and constant disruption, the deck steals resources and forces bad trades. It’s a cold, calculated strategy that slowly chokes out the table and secures total control.
