It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for a little digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
They are in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Star Wars Armada Fun @ Dualist Gaming – A good, fun pictorial article about Star Wars: Armada. The pictures are really good and whet my appetite to play this game, having recently picked it up but not yet having had the chance to play it. This is actually the second article from Dualist Gaming that has caught my attention, and is the second where the images have really impressed. I’ve now subscribed, too.
Review: Churchill: Big Three Struggle for Peace by GMT Games @ The Players’ Aid – The Players’ Aid is rapidly becoming a firm favourite for me. Their articles are detailed and thorough, much like this review of GMT’s Churchill: Big Three Struggle for Peace. I have this one on the way from GMT’s P500 preorder system, so reading reviews like this gets me really excited for what’s to come. This article is also accompanied by fantastic photographs of the components.
Organizing a Board Games Night @ I Play Blue – A good article about board game nights. I like that it opens with some of the challenges involved before moving on to make some sound suggestions. A good read with some good advice.
The ABCs of RPGs or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the D20 @ Clash Cultures – I love this article. It starts out describing that common reluctance among tabletop gamers to be too open about their hobby for fear of… I don’t even really know. Rejection? Ridicule? Indifference? The writer goes on to give a really good explanation of rpgs and then goes through example systems. I can see myself linking people to this article when explaining what RPGs are.
Welcome to the Golden Age of Board Games @ The Christian Rationalist – a lovely article extolling the virtues of tabletop games and arguing in support of the common refrain that we are in a golden age of games. Good, positive article.
On No Rerolls, it’s been a quiet week. We’ve just spoken about voting for BGG’s Golden Geek awards.
See you next week!
