It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases and Previews
Every week there are many games and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Tyrants of Lothal expansion released for Star Wars: Imperial Assault – Imperial assault is a pretty good game. Well, I like Descent a lot, and I love Star Wars. It’s only natural that I love their offpsring. I also really like the Star Wars: Rebels TV show and am glad to see them dipping into the material:
They are also releasing a series of blisters alongside the boxed set with lots of the characters. I may pick up the Sabine character just to paint! She’s my favourite from the show. Might get Thrawn, too. Always liked him.
Ho Lee Fook! New Infinity terrain from Antenocitis Workshop – I’m always on the lookout for pretty terrain and this piece looks fantastic. A restaurant for your Infinity games:
A good simple building with some cool flourishes and detailing. Yeah, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s pre-painted, too.
New Anniversary Edition of Cosmic Encounter on the way from Fantasy Flight – I’m kind of not sure that this is really necessary, but no doubt it will be pretty cool and rather entertaining. This is being put out to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the original Cosmic Encounter:
Not much really seems to be changing, except for a few cards. I may get a move on and pick up the last couple of expansions that I need, though. You know, just in case they want to replace those, too.
Forgeworld release new Horus Heresy character, Anacharis Scoria – As a big fan of the madder, more esoteric side of the Adeptus Mechanicus, I’m pleased to see this cool, elaborate character being released. It fits the theme so well:
I love the little, shrivelled, cowled remains of the flesh surrounded by the ridiculous amount of mechanical augmentations and additions. This is a really fitting character to lead your AdMech armies.
PWorks reformats their mats for use in Kill Team – With Kill Team now out, PWorks seems to be the first of the battlemat makers to adapt to the new format and release a mat of the correct dimensions for Games Workshop’s latest offering. They have made loads of their mats available at the new dimensions.
PWorks produces really good mats and we’ve featured a lot of them in previous 5 on Friday segments. If you’re looking for something special for your games of Kill Team, check them out.
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Warhammer World Road Trip 2018 @ BattleBunkerBlog – This is the first of a series of posts from the author on his recent trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham. It’s somewhere I’d quite like to visit at some point myself and I’m looking forward to the author sharing his experiences. I hope there are lots of great pics accompanying future posts!
Rogue Stars – Dogs Of War @ Steinberg Shed Space – This is what I want from Rogue Stars! I want to find and paint jus the most random assortment of cool, little sci-fi dudes and then play with them. Hasslefree is a company I really like, so it’s nice to see their stuff painted – and painted well! The author has gone for a nice, bright colour scheme for the armour that constrasts really well with the faces and equipment. Lookin’ good!
Trucks, T’au and Terrain -the latest from the Cult @ The Casual Cultist – A catchall post of the author’s recent hobby work. It’s all pretty cool, between the scavenged Gaunts, the Mantic terrain and, coolest of all, the converted Gaslands cars. Makes me really want to break out the bits box and see what I can do with a set of Hot Wheels! I need to do posts like these. I also need to be better at actually doing stuff!
Mow Down Walkers In The Zombie Bash Scenario For Gaslands @ Nerds on Earth – This is a very specific, but quite in-depth review. Rather than a review of Gaslands (the author has already done this), it’s actually a review of one specific scenario. I like that the author really gets into it and recounts their own experience of the scenario and gives a well-developed opinion. There are some great pictures, too.
My Daughter’s First Shelfie @ Life and Board Games – This is a short post, but it’s quite sweet. The author shares the shelf of games that they had collected for their daughter. There’s a lovely selection of Haba games, along with other odds and ends. Playing games with kids is a great experience and I can understand the excitement and anticipation felt by the author. Thanks for sharing, it was a nice wee post.
On No Rerolls this week, we posted our weekly Hobby Update. In this episode, I try to bring my games room into something resembling order. Do I succeed? You decide.
Catch you next week!
