It’s Friday, and here on No Rerolls that means it’s time for an all-new 5 on Friday. We’re going to start with 5 exciting releases for this week before moving on to our usual digest of some of our favourite articles from the past week. Of course, we’re slow readers, so don’t be surprised if there are some articles that are a little older – these are just some of the great articles we happen to have actually read in the past week.
Releases & Previews
Every week there are many games and miniatures released. This will probably be a mix of previews, preorders, and releases, and with release dates being the way they are in this industry, it’s always pretty approximate. Excuses out of the way, here are 5 of the releases that caught our attention this week:
Radiant City Enterprises released on DM’s Guild – Having recently looked at another DM’s Guild PDF based on the Radiant Citadel, I was quite keen to read through this one, as well. It explores a number of businesses and other organisations operating in the citadel. This is the sort of setting flavour that I really like.

I ended up being given a copy to have a look through. I had hoped to have a review done this past week, but never quite got it finished. Expect to see it in the coming week.

Steamforged Games is running a Kickstarter for their Elden Ring board game – I can’t say that I’m a fan of the Dark Souls games. I don’t really dislike them either. It’s more of an apathy, really. I do quite like some of the character/monster designs, and I think that the tone of the game appeals to me. Steamforged Games, publisher of the previous Dark Souls games is now putting out one based on Elden Ring:

I’m starting to see Steamforged as a bit of a shovelware mine or overproduced licensed board games that are just stuffed with miniatures. This game seems to fit that description as well. I mean, the miniatures actually look pretty good, at least by the usual standard for board game miniatures. People seem to keep backing Steamforged’s stuff, so they must be doing something right, eh?
Onyx Path releases Kith and Kin supplement for Changeling: The Lost – I love Changeling. In fact, I really love, and have written positively about, both Changeling: The Dreaming and Changeling: The Lost. I really appreciate the role that Onyx Path plays in keeping these games alive, and producing interesting, new material for them. The latest new book is this offering, Kith and Kin:

Any book that adds a ton of character creation options to a World of Darkness (or, indeed, Chronicles of Darkness) game is going to be a winner in my book. The ability to really customise your character and come up with cool and interesting combinations is always an attractive prospect.

Flatout Games currently running a Kickstarter for their new game, Fit to Print – I love the look of this game. Tile-laying games are really appealing to me at the moment, and the theming of this one is spot on. It has players creating whimsical, woodland newspapers. It’s so cute!

I’ve taken a much close look at this campaign. I shared my thoughts in this week’s Kickstarter-Watch. Unsurprisingly, it’s a pretty positive piece. The game is very cool and the pricepoint is also quite reasonable.
Kobold Press releases their third Tome of Beasts – Now, y’all know just how very, vcry much I enjoy the books that Kobold Press puts out. They do good supplements and campaign settings, but their bestiaries are particularly fantastic. It’s exciting, therefore, to find that they have released a third volume of their Tome of Beasts:

At 424 pages, this is a weighty tome with a lot of content. Amongst other creatures, this book promises details on:
- Void knights and breakwater trolls
- Musk deer and fiend lords
- Prismatic dragons and royal chimeras
- Stained glass moths and voidclaw zombies
- Tar golems and witchwillows
- Kobold drake riders and hellfire giants
The quality of the previous two books has been fantastic. I’ve been particularly impressed with the consistently good artwork that accompanies each of the monster profiles. I’ll be looking to pick up a physical copy of this book once it makes its way to UK retail.

Blog Posts & Articles
The meat of 5 on Friday, the articles are listed in no particular order, so let’s get into some recommendations:
Event Review: Path to Glory at Warhammer World – ‘Conquest of the Savage Lands’ @ Narrative Event Organizer Network – This is a great writeup of an Age of Sigmar event. What I really liked was the fact that many people seem to have gone for cool, thematic armies. I mean, not all the way; I do see a very prominent Krondspine in those pictures, but still. A lot. This post is full of great pictures, and it seems like a lot of real talent was on display. Among my favourites are an awesome Clans Moulder army and the efforts of the ever-talent Ricki.
In defense of simple games @ STALKER7 – There is something to be said for simplicity, no doubt. Many of my favourite RPGs are those with comparatively simple rules. This is also one of the main reasons that I consider Age of Sigmar to be a far better game than 40K. In his musings on the topic, the author of this post draws a crucial distinction between ‘simple’, as in ‘elegant’, and the more pejorative ‘simplistic’. This point is key to the discussion. This is a well-considered post that’s worth a read.
Ogor Mawtribes: The Skew Lists @ Plastic Craic – Oh, these lists are pretty specific. They do look interesting, but they’re the sort of lists I’d likely look to play on Tabletop Simulator, rather than on the tabletop. 220 Gnoblars? 40 Leadbelchers? Actually, the third list is pretty doable… Another really fun list article from Plastic Craic!
Fallout The Roleplaying Game Starter Set Review @ Games Hub – Oh, I do love pretty much anything that comes out of Modiphius. I’ve not tried their Fallout RPG yet, and I’m doubtful that I ultimately will. Reviews like this do whet the appetite, though…
Are Wargames Too Expensive? @ Indirect Fire – A salient question, followed up by a thoughtful reflection. It takes both sides and perhaps spends a bit too long sitting on the fence, but it’s an interesting read.

Since my last 5 on Friday, I’ve published the following posts:
- So,e thoughts on recent Games Workshop previews.
- A batch of completed Chaos Spawn miniatures
- A pair of completed Minstealer Sphiranx miniatures
- A look at a Kickstarter campaign for an upcoming board game.
- A Throwback Thursday about game art.
- A review of the Dresden Files RPG.
Aye, a good week, all in all. Some interesting things coming next week, if I can get them finished up.
Catch ya’ll next week!
